howdy! i'm currently trying to go through the application process for a character, but find myself stumbling a bit on the abilities. since i have several questions (eg. would this ability work, would it be passive/normal, etc.), would i redirect all of them to the masterlist? or is there a channel in the discord for me to ask back-to-back questions? thank you for your time!

There are! You can find the group's most wanted list at the "most wanted" tab on the topbar, and in the "most wanted" link on the mobile navigation.

Typically speaking, the most wanted popular fandoms are Genshin Impact/Honkai Star Rail, Trigun, Marvel/DC Comics, Fire Emblem and Kingdom Hearts.

If we’re playing a character from a media that has multiple renditions, can we play the same person from each?

Speaking generally, no. While Aevum Isles does allow for two characters to be applied from the same franchise, that character cannot be the same one, even from an alternative dimension. That would be unfair to current and prospective members who may be equally interested in that character, were you to write the same character's alternative versions in the setting.

If you would prefer to be the only version of a character in the MFRP, you would have to choose one version, and indicate in your canon doubles preferences that you do not want any duplicates.

Alternatively, you may allow others to take up alternative versions of your character through indicating that duplicates are okay. You may also limit which versions to your own discretion. This does not strictly bar a current/prospective member from asking for exemption, but it would come down to your final decision in that case.

If you would like to explore alternative canon points for your muse, there is infinite potential in the group's events.

Yes! It's totally okay to join Aevum's discord server to get a scope of the place and the people! In fact, we recommend it. 😊 We are very lucky to have a lot of fun, good people in Aevum. We'd all be happy to meet a prospective member!

As far as the most wanted characters and series, you can look at the Most Wanted Tag for a general overview of the most common requests!

Off the cuff (as of 01/04/25), we've gotten requests for the following series:

Arcane / League of Legends This one is popular as of the release of Arcane S2 on Netflix!

Baldur's Gate 3 / D&D We have a very active Astarion who would enjoy more castmates!

Kingdom Hearts For any character! though Sora is taken.

Genshin Impact This is an incredibly popular series. (So is Honkai: Star Rail). You are welcome to check the Masterlist to see what is already taken.

Marvel Cinematic Universe Both mods are a bit biased with this one as we place Loki and Thor respectively, but there have been talks about a Star Lord/Peter Quill applying soon, so the more the merrier!

A question for the mods: Are there any series that members are uncomfortable interacting with, like Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss? Would muses from those series be welcome in the group?

Hi Anon! Thanks for the question.

As it currently stands, Aevum Isles does not have a list of banned characters or series. The "Acceptable Characters" Policy can be found (here), and an elaboration (here). Thus, characters from either of those series may be applied.

Ultimately it's your preference as to whether that's a muse you would desire to still pursue or not. Ultimately, Aevum Isles encourages members to curate their own spaces and to decide to engage with whomever they would like to. That includes any deciding on an individual basis what series that they are and are not comfortable with. This is done to protect all parties.

However, Staff also (disallows any harassment or bullying behavior) towards any other member for any reason. Even if they dislike the character or series that has been applied. Staff can't dictate every member's squicks, triggers, or preferences, but we do have (policies in place) to mitigate disruptive behavior.

Likewise, not every person is required to interact with every single muse in the group setting. That is left up to personal preference. It may also be worth noting that personal preferences don't technically need to be explained to anyone, but Staff does encourage open and honest communication about boundaries nonetheless. Even if it's something as simple as a 'sorry but I'm not interested'.

Communication and the golden rule are key pillars of the group's OOC setting, for incoming and ongoing members alike.

How do you guys handle situations where someone brings in a canon character who is already being used as a faceclaim for an OC? For example, what'll happen if someone is already using Sasuke from Naruto as a faceclaim for an OC named Clyde, but then sometime later another mun wants to app in Sasuke as a canon muse? Does Clyde take precedence?

Hello, Nonny!

In-Universe (assuming there has not been a disproportionate dispute involving the Sasuke faceclaim) both characters would simply exist in the isles with a strikingly similar appearance. The Aevum Realm is a transdimensional space, so anything goes.

At its baseline, there would be no reason for either character to take precedence under normal circumstances.

Assuming instead that the Sasuke-Mun and the OC's mun repeatedly butt heads on the subject, the matter would fall under the jurisdiction of the Mod Intervention Policy, where it is still widely encouraged that both muns talk to each other OOC in a civil conversation and come to a well-communicated agreement.

It would then be good for the Sasuke-Mun to remember that at the end of the day the OC isn't going to look exactly like the faceclaim used. The faceclaim itself is simply being utilized as a representation of the OC in question.

If the issue persisted and was an avid point of contention, the issue would be resolved on a case-by-case basis by Staff.

Hi there, I know the acceptable characters says that historical figures (even from fictional adaptations such as Hamilton (musical)) are not permitted, or that characters directly from mythology are not permitted, but what about characters from fictional adaptations of legends with their own continuity? For example, would Orpheus from Hadestown or Odysseus from Epic: The Musical be permitted as muses?

Characters who are fictional adaptations of mythology are permitted! Typically, the more removed they are from the IRL source material, the better.

Orpheus from Hadestown and Odysseus from Epic: The Musical would be permitted as acceptable characters as opposed to Alexander Hamilton from the Hamilton musical.
