How the frickety frack did Tom Hardy age backwards right after playing Eames in Inception?

Particularly THIS INTERVIEW OMG during the press tour, which would have been at least a year (?) after the movie was filmed, where Tom Hardy looks about ten years YOUNGER than Eames like howwwwww?!?!!! He is baby! He is child! He looks younger than everyone there!!

This is some Benjamin Button craziness.

Which makes me believe in my small brain that Eames as a trickster was a forger in real life as well as in dreams and made people believe he was older than he actually was at the time.

This is sorcery (movie magic) and I need answers. Please explain. All head canons will be considered.
