We report: we caught a movement in the sky, something unfurling and twisting itself in and out of shape. To the naked eye, it is just quick enough to see it happen in real time. We know how these clouds go, but it does not take away from watching this one at its freest.

GUYS there are two bones in the ear named malleus and incus, alternatively HAMMER AND ANVIL. AND the body of incus (anvil) is holding onto the head of malleus (hammer), something something maekar cuddling baelor's half open head into his chest/body something something.

I have. So many I’d like to send you but this one is first! Both were taken at the same time. That looks like a classic anvil shaped storm to me but is there a name for the sky shadows it cast?

If there is any word for the shadow, I dont know it and couldn't find it. But, I can say it's casting the shadow not on the sky itself, but on a cirrostratus cloud!

The first image has cirrostratus, cumulonimbus incus mammatus - you can see some slight round shapes on the underneath of the anvil head - and cumulus fractus clouds.

The second image has cirrostratus clouds, which I'm very tempted to call fibratus radiatus, but it looks like shapes are only caused by shadow, so I'll hold off on that.

Unusual inner ear bone from a calf. Both sides looked like this. Shown next to a typical incus and malleus from a calf... I think the unusual one is the two bones fused.
