author's note: hi! im so sorry this chapter is so much shorter than the last, i promise the next one won't be as short. also heavy on the next part for this chapter. for this chapter, i also wanted to say that i don't support trump!! i know people think caitlin is maga and i just wanted to say that i do not support that, in this story no one is maga! in fact, let's just pretend trump isn't here! AS ALWAYS! please please please, read the warnings. if you don’t like any of them, don’t read this because they will mostly be used heavily. i am not speaking in definitives here. obviously taylor and diana are not a thing. we don’t know if caitlin clark is gay and we don’t know if taylor is gay. this is fanfiction. it’s not real! again, if you don’t like it, don’t read it. thank you! reqs are open!

“She’s been wanting to meet you for a while, and this would be a good introduction into the WNBA and gay community,” Tree informs me as hair stylists and my makeup artist rush around me, dressing and primping me.
“Sounds fair to me,” I shrug, taking a bite of a granola bar, careful not to smudge my lipstick. “Anything we should do?”
“Just make it as natural as possible.”

It honestly feels like Tree scheduled this more for me than for PR. She’s kind, mannered, but most of all, she understands the world I live in. Constantly fighting against men and misogynistic pricks who just tear down women, especially for being in a male-dominated field. It’s almost a full-circle moment for me, being able to guide someone so young through something I’ve already experienced.
“I mean, the whole WNBA corner of the internet pitting Paige and me against each other has been a huge thing as well. It’s hurtful to both of our reputations to be honest.”
I roll my eyes, nodding as I take a sip out of my drink. “Oh my god, yes, the media constantly putting women against each other is so childish, I understand completely,”
We go quiet for a minute, focusing on the game until I break the silence. “Honest question, how much of the WNBA is gay?”
Caitlin snorts a laugh out next to me, leaning over in her seat. “Oh, all of it.”
“Shut up, I knew it! Gracie and I-”
“Abrams?!”
Giggling, I nod. “Abrams, yes. We were talking about how like half the WNBA is gay and anyone denying it is denying themselves,”
“Oh, absolutely, I mean, I’ve been denying on the internet, but girl me too,”
“I didn’t want to assume…” We’re whispering by now, obviously, not wanting to catch any unwanted eavesdroppers.
“No, it’s obvious, Conner and I aren’t real,”
I nod, knowingly. “That’s Travis, and my situation too.”
Her eyes go wide before she leans in, whisper-yelling at me. “You’re gay?!”
“Yes,” I say, smiling at her reaction. “Isn’t it obvious?”
“I mean, not really?”
“Well, Diana Taurasi thinks the opposite.” I look away, pretending to be absentmindedly watching the game, but I absolutely know the bomb I just dropped.
“You’re dating fucking Diana Taurasi?” Her mouth is agape as I turn towards her, and I can’t help but laugh.
“Maybe,” I shrug.
“You guys are fucking slick. How does no one know?”
“I have a good manager,”
“Apparently!” She nods dramatically, her eyebrows scrunching together.
“Wait, so are you guys gonna hard launch?”
“We had our first date the other week. We haven’t really thought about that yet.”
Diana: So... you looked GOOD today.
Diana:
Diana: Guess what I’m staring at
Me: Okay, Ms. Straightforward
Diana: What can I say? My girl is gorgeous
Me: “My girl”??!!!
Diana: If you want
Me: We are definitely not doing this over text
I haven’t giggled at text messages in who knows how long, but right now, I’m smiling, my cheeks red as I look down at my phone. Gosh, I need help.
