Fun Fact
Some of the earliest and significant developments of trigonometry were done in India. Influential works from the 4th–5th century AD, known as the Siddhantas, first defined the sine as the modern relationship between half an angle and half a chord. Then Aryabhata expanded on these works in his book the Aryabhatiya. The oldest surviving sin and cos tables are from India, and other Indian mathematicians over time came to create accurate formulas to calculate sin, cos, inverse sin, and versine. Influencial mathemeticians include Bhaskara I, Brahmagupta, and Madhava.
