Storytime!
when I was in middle school ( I graduated high school this year), we had to choose between Sanskrit and Urdu as an elective language.(I live in India)
my parents asked me to choose Sanskrit and told me it will help in future.... how would a dead language help me was beyond me but well, the things we brown kids do to please our parents.
I SHIT YOU NOT, it was difficult as HELL. the words, the spellings the syntax!! we had to slave for three years, trying new tricks to learn the irregular verbs.
a few days ago we had a festival (I am a practicing Hindu)and my mom asked me to perform the rituals as my dad (who usually does this) was out of town. i pulled out the book which contained the steps by step instructions and the the hymns we need to sing
AAAND BEHOLD! it was ALL in Sanskrit. and I miraculously understood it.
ladies and gentlemen of tumblr, I performed an entire Hindu religious ritual by myself!! my mom was so proud that she forwarded the video of me doing it in the family WhatsApp group and my entire extended family is in awe of me.
MORAL OF THE STORY: THERE IS A REASON WHY DEAD LANGUAGES ARE NOT BURIED!!
Is there a science side of desi tumblr that can tell me stuff about isro? I need information for school but google is confusing me.
What has isro been up to in terms of space exploration? How deeply engrossed is it in the space race (like USA and Russia are?) How many missions have failed compared to those which were a success? Have the missions produced enough scientific results to be worth the cost, and where does this funding come from?
I would like to take the time to dedicate a special ✨fuq you✨ post to some of my teachers
1) all my hindi teachers for telling me my hindi is terrible especially pronounciation of certain words and also gendering objects despite me repeatedly telling them that bengali doens't have gender for objects and I didnt start speaking hindi until I was 6
2) the teacher who picked children (including me) for looking 'chinki' ( slur for people with small 'chinese-like' eyes)
3) dance teacher who scolded me for not looking 'african' after putting make up on
4) sports teacher who told me I shouldn't be touchy with guys......while playing football( I mean what am I supposed to do? Whack em with a stick? Throw my shoe?)
5) the teacher who indirectly called my friend a slut for hanging out with her guy friends
6) teachers who tell you to ask questions or for help if needed and then when you they make you feel stupid or question your capabilities
7) ' yOuR mEnTaL hEaLtH iS tHe MoSt iMpoRtAnT' proceeds to give tons of homework, unnecessary projects, send out exam date sheet a week prior, forces you to participate in all events but won't postpone the submission dates
For writers who have Indian characters and want a detailed backstory of school for them maybe idk
Yeah so I typed this but it glitched and won't show like 6 points so I'm reposting it as a picture. You can probably see it in better quality after opening it.
