I started working on a better world for testing. Right now I am attempting to build a village that looks decent but I am having issues since environment/world design is not my strength. Here’s what I got going, I am just messing around with tools to hopefully get something going.

I think the next thing is fixing some of the issues with the character physics, and then getting things in the world to start really making a game. 

I think NPCs are going to be one of the things added in the near future to really give this game some life. 

The update is a little small tonight since its just been messing with the terrain tool I got and learning some things about environment and world design.

Oh god, so I decided I wanted to make a new player character and chose this tough looking fella. I thought I got everything on him but I see I missed some things which gave me a very interesting bug. 

I am working on a few things tonight, so hopefully I’ll have a bigger update soon!

So I might be a little too proud of this working so well, but anyways here’s what I did tonight! I refactored a lot of code, especially the inventory and item manager. This is due to the inventory taking a different route. The inventory instead of going with the classic MMORPG inventory will now be taking the runescape route where items don’t stack. This makes inventory space more valuable and creates a scarcity of materials in specific places.

I’m also refactoring the EntityCommand class and the PlayerController to be much more modular therefore the player controller just becomes something to draw input from and then sends it to the entity command to figure out what to do with the input. This way I can easily make AI and Players, and also can swap between player and AI at any time. This may be a feature but I doubt it. This is just useful for managing the huge amount of code that would be in PlayerController otherwise.

Anyways, I am super happy with how the inventory turned out, but because this is done I can easily move forward now into adding trading AI, chests and more that all interact with the inventory. If you made it this for you’re the best and I hope you have a great night <3

Hey guys, so today has been more work on random generation. So I decided to try to optimize the dungeon. First was to combine all the floor tiles, generate a new collider, then generate a new nav mesh. There’s a few issues still with this function but I should have it done fairly soon.

Also, I have to fix the walls being a little far from the tiles. I have a lot of work to do, and also i still have to fix the resources spawning outside of the dungeon. But hopefully you guys are enjoying the new look, I find its not as hard on the eyes as the other dungeon tiles were.

What’s up guys, so this is the new dungeon generation. This new generation tool I bought is absolutely amazing and saves me at least a few weeks of writing code to achieve anything near this level. 

This is a quick look at what it might look like at the end. There’s a few things to fix, mainly having to do with the colliders and physics in the generation but I am sure it won’t be a huge problem. 

I think with this out of the way I can safely move on the creating enemies, and starting combat. I feel like this tool is just what I needed to really kick the project in the right direction. 

With the change of me creating many of the assets within the game, I totally have to save time now in what ever way I can if I want to release something soon and this really is helping me a lot!
