I'm looking to make connections with more Canadian suppliers of dyed fibres.

If you are an indie dyer based out of Canada who wants to work with a Canadian based Spinster, hmu and we can build a better textiles community in the wake of this Tarifficult Time

TLDR: I offer you my services as a Spinner to supply your shop with handspun at a flexible cost per meter rate, and since many hands make light work if any other spinners wanted in on the racket they could DM me to have their name on a contact spreadsheet for dyers to use as a phonebook if they want to have a certain spinner's touch

That's it. That's the idea.

With the tariffs ruining small business and lots of people losing crossborder income, I thought that we could work together to fill in the gaps.

I'm loving commission work so much and my local access to The Fiber Imp is a nice bonus but I want to work with more indie dyers and custom blends!

Ship me your new colourways and I will send back samples of it spun in different ways to show off it's potential!

You want me to do swatches in knit/crochet/tunisian crochet to show to different crafters the way it pools?

Some behind the scenes of the dyeing of the advent for @koniknits ! Including my inspiration board above^^

1: The biggest part of the "how" question: lots of cold processing in different cups! Depending on what I wanted the yarn to look like, I dyed them evenly, in a gradient, while tied, again after untying, speckled with either dye solution or dye powder, etc. Some went through multiple rounds of dyeing, one or two I completely redyed since I wasn't happy with them. They got steamed after cold processing to set the dye.

Fun fact: I only have magenta, yellow, turqoise and coal dye powders, plus I recently bought a copery colour. This is all done by mixing from those primaries!

This is also the only picture I took while dyeing, which reminds me that I need to get better at taking pictures...

2&3: Trying to settle on an order, went with the second one! Very satisfying to see them all in order.

4: In their houses/boxes! Such cute little bundles!

6: And everything packaged up!

I love experimenting with dyeing minis, so this was a really fun swap to do. Looking forward to doing more dyeing this year, hopefully a couple of warps as well as yarn!

Falkland wool has an exceptionally bright white base, comfortably medium length fibers, and is soft to the touch 🐑 I tend to reach for Falkland as a spinner when I want an extra-squishy yarn, as it has a tendency to make extra-bulky singles, puffing up enthusiastically in the finishing process!

Vernal Rainbow had been plied up. All that is left is skeining this up and washing it.

There is currently a small magenta cloud attached to my air vent.

I did not put it there.

At some point during today’s rolag frenzy — somewhere between “just one more blend” and “I should probably clean up” — the wool achieved autonomy.

I like to think it’s not escaping.

It’s expanding.

Crossroads prep continues.

The color is bold.

The floof is everywhere.

And apparently the house now has a seasonal fiber migration.

Every hue has a tale.

Some of them travel.

I did not put it there.

I did an advent calendar trade with @lightsandfire and they sent me the most gorgeous hand dyed yarns! So gorgeous and so fun to unpack and guess the mineral they represented, I had to make a video to share the experience.

work in-progress on a lacey semicircular shawl. knitting with a long change gradient yarn. gonna knit till i run out of yarn, hopefully the piece looks decent!

more wip previously progress and yarn shots. shop is the blue brick here in canada, colorway is based on last year’s eclipse.

my skein definitely has less blue in it, it’s much more grey. and i went with the non-sparkly option.
