OMG a distaff changes everything!!!! Suddenly drop spindling makes sense! I know where my hands go and everything just works. It's effortless. I was able to pace back and forth while making yarn! I'm so incredibly happy with it ;0; I can't wait until my turkish spindle arrives so I can try that too.
I went to Maryland Sheep and Wool last week and this is one (of two) spindles I got and then the distaff was a gift (also bought at the fest). The distaff is from Dan Tracy Designs and the spindle was from the Handspun by Stefania booth, although it's made by Bergschultz Studio, out of polymer clay I think. It weighs just under an ounce. I also got (arguably too much) fiber that I'm excited to be working through :3
This fiber here is something I previously purchased from BeesyBee Fibers, Old Lavender I think the color is called. It's a merino silk blend.
Finally spent some time rebranding some old pdf patterns

While the 3-ply oilslick spin rests, I start in on the 3rd and final braid of @akaluan's Black Magic.
This time, the plan is a cable yarn with 2 of the singles being the same as the oilslick singles and the other 2 drafted straight from the comb top.
I'll pair the plies so that one single is oilslick and the other the straight draft.
Since the end goal is a yarn suited for crochet, I'm inversing the spin directions to end up with a Z-twist
The first straight-drafted single ^

Anyone know of any knit shawl patterns where the lace gaps create/evoke the essence of pinecone?
