Trade School versus a College

This is something I’ve heard being emphasized repeatedly over the past few years from politicians to everyday people. Instead of getting a college education people are being encouraged to take up a trade instead. Here’s the thing though. It was never made important when I was in High School. Everything there was to prepare you for college. Now I hear they’re giving you the option of taking classes meant to prepare you for a trade as well.

I’m annoyed that I never had that choice. Not because I wanted to learn a trade but it would have been nice to have that as a choice. My problem with learning a trade, especially when its coming from politicians is that it almost sounds like they want drones or worker bees. They want people to have jobs that require them not to think for themselves and question their status. College prepares people for more than just jobs. It encourages critical thinking skills and more than just the basics of whatever job you’re trying to get. 

People are actually looking down upon people who can actually think because it serves no person. It doesn’t make money. In one guy’s words “Education just lets you learn to argue with people online.” Don’t get me wrong. I see the pros and cons of learning a trade and going to college. But if you’re sole motivation is money and you’re not passionate about the job, you won’t get very far. 

Personally, I’d rather learn something in college, learn to think for myself, and question the motivations of those in charge. I refuse to be another drone. And for those of you taking trades, there are no judgements from me. College isn’t for everybody and just because you’ve decided to take up a trade, I won’t automatically assume you’re uneducated. People should always do whatever they’re passionate about. 

I just believe neither a trade or college should be emphasized over the other. We need people in trades just as much as we need those going to college. Both are pathways to careers beneficial to society. Whatever you’re passionate about, never let any discourage you because it lacks money or even a use. It’s about what you enjoy doing.

The most oppressed minority in our society is the individual. The individual cannot have opinions that differ from an ideology, nor can they agree with multiple ideologies. The so-called minority groups want to tyrannize the individual into submission to their group ideology. You either stand with them or against them. This is a dangerous game, and our youth have been ensnared by it. Much like gangs work in inner cities, our youth have flocked to gangs of ideology and are being indoctrinated. It is a tragic and bloody cycle of human history.

I am not my nationality, skin color, sexual preference, politcal stance, nor gender.

I am my values, choices, actions, accomplishments, failures, and connections with those who I love and cherish.

A Difference of Opinion Doesn't Make Me A Hater

I was recently accused of being a hater. It happened because I posted a video entitled "Don't Take Love Advice From Steve Harvey". In the video I obviously stated that one shouldn't take love advice from Steve Harvey but I also said that one shouldn't heed love advice from me or anyone else for that matter and that when it comes to relationship and love matters that one should follow their heart.

It brought to my attention that whenever a black person expresses an opinion that differs from another black person's opinion, the black person in question is labeled a hater. It also made me realize that I'm constantly getting in trouble with black people for breaking all of the black people rules. Don't worry, if you don't know all of the black people rules it's OK, black people don't know them either. We usually find out what the rules are after we break a rule and our black card is revoked.

I said all of that to say, as a comedian who values free speech and someone who's job is to make social commentary, I'm probably always gonna say things that could offend someone. I also happen to have individual opinions that aren't necessarily the same as every other black person, but in comedy there are no sacred cows. Any and everything is fair game and open for conversation, just as I am fair game to be called a hater. But the term "hater" is so dismissive, so don't call me that, call me an individual thinker.
