it’s true!! i’ve been into watching random 500 practice/quali sessions lately and even tho i know to expect it his lovely positive demeanor in interviews still sort of catches me off guard, yknow?

i was genuinely pretty sad about no nxt this week for this reason and thought i might end up having to rewatch iowa and mid oh coverage to amuse myself. but no. i underestimated them...

also i might as well just yeet this up here: yay they went to baseball together (with all their other coworkers but still)

who are shane and scotty, you got me invested

shane van gisbergen and scott mclaughlin, two kiwis who drove for rival australian v8 supercars teams and won three championships apiece (shane in '16 '21 '22 and scotty in '18 '19 '20)...aussie media made quite a lot of their personal rivalry which wasn't exactly the case altho it did indeed sometimes get heated and they couldn't exactly stay friends of course. anyway scotty escaped the toxic paddock to the US to try his hand at indycars and it went/is going very well! shane followed him stateside a few years later, altho into nascar and has said that scotty telling him how much happier he is over here and how good the racing culture was a major factor in why he took the plunge. i personally got incredibly invested when they did the rolex 24 together this year and they started opening up about what it's been like to reignite their relationship and hang out more often and do stuff like racing just for fun like they always wanted. and this has been an especially exciting week or so because they're racing a fun little weekday summer series in north carolina together in what's effectively the nascar version of karting (a poor analogy but close enough).

basically, take any friends to enemies pairing you can imagine and write a fix-it reconciliation epilogue. that's literally what's happening

i'm happy to elaborate on whatever else, this is very basic--i know way too much because what was i supposed to do over winter break? NOT get into a series i know next to nothing about for deranged reasons?

thank you!!!! i doubt i'll get enough to write the 30k it deserves but i am happy to say that even just by sheer critical mass of their interactions each weekend i feel relatively confident that some kind of drabble is inevitable. which i know sounds wrong for a slow burn but i feel pretty confident in my ability to choose an impactful scene to snapshot

partly as a note to myself and partly as a tease i suppose one thing i come back to a lot is a line maybe hinch said on the broadcast a few weeks ago that sometimes you spend the month of may with someone and you realize that's exactly where you belong all the time...

Do you know if there’s a bus bros primer or lore post or something? I’m sort of new to the fandom and I’m not sure where to look but people talk about the lore and they intrigue me

hmmm there probably is something out there and i feel like i've seen something useful but i don't have it to hand! putting out the bat signal to my mutuals!!

that said however, quite a lot of the lore is contained in their youtube series. you'll note that it stops somewhat abruptly. the details about why are...sparse. there's been a few flashes of rapprochement in the last year or so.
