How It All Got Started

7 years ago I was a new high school graduate and was assigned a summer reading book from the college I was to attend in the fall. This book was entitled ‘Animal, Vegetable, Miracle’ but Barbara Kingsolver. This book was a nonfiction book that Barbara Kingsolver wrote about her family’s year-long food journey. As I read this book for a second time this past summer, I began thinking about how I have never stopped to think where my food came from. Food is necessary to life but yet I would go mindlessly through life and eat whatever I thought was ‘healthy’ or whatever tasted good. But I never actually thought about it. This book provokes me to think about my food. I presented this to Henry and he liked the idea. I told him I wanted to shop more local foods and know where my food came from. He agreed with me and so began my crazy rabbit hole journey haha. As I began looking as local food, I began to see some articles about cruelty free products. I began looking into that more and decided I did not want to continue using products that tested on animals. And after that decision I learned the difference between products that don’t test on animals and products that don’t test on animals AND don’t use any animal product in them (vegan). I decided that I wanted to use vegan products. 

So now I am trying to shop more local sources and use vegan products in my everyday life. That's how it all got started. 

I actually created my ineffableamor Instagram because I found several blogs and people I wanted to follow that were homesteading and shopping locally and using vegan products. As I was researching I found a business called Sand Cloud that makes AMAZING products that donate 10%  to conservation programs and other ways that #savethefishies. I became a brand ambassador and have loved support them. Because of that I became more aware of the plastics I use and have started using less and making better choices with my plastics. Because of this I then wanted to start trying to reduce my waste.So now I shop more local and organic food, use vegan products, use less plastic, and am trying to reduce my overall waste. (hahah crazy right)

Last thing I promise, I also became a brand rep for Pura Vida bracelets which supports artisans in Bali. I love supporting things that I believe in but also this business  also supports charities which is awesome. You are able to support the business and also support a charity you believe in. 

So it started with shopping locally and now I am trying to reduce my waste. It is a crazy journey and involves lots of accidental discoveries but I’m so excited to be discovering who I am and what I want to be doing with my life.
