‘I don’t know that you understand.’
‘Help me to. Tell me about this box.’
‘It’s called a Paradox Box.’
‘Every time you flick the switch on, it opens up, an arm comes out, switches itself off and then closes. It’s like a paradox.’
‘But that isn’t a paradox, it is a looping sequence; it is infinite recursion.’
‘It’s not called an Infinite Recursion Box. It is called a Paradox Box.’
‘You understand that it is a Paradox Box?’
‘I understand that it is called a Paradox Box, yes.’
‘I don’t know that you do understand. Maybe you just want me to think you do.’
‘I do want you to think that I understand. I do understand.’
‘Forget it. It doesn’t matter.’
‘I don’t know that you’ll ever understand me.’
‘What is your point exactly?’
‘It’s possible that we’ll never know if we understand one other.’
‘So, you are saying we could very well already understand one another, we just don’t know if we do?’
‘That isn’t what I meant. Do we have to know in order to understand?’
‘What aren’t you telling me?’
‘Alright. It’s like, we are in this box… and we only ever come out to go back in.’
‘I don’t know what you mean. This is really frustrating.’
