📚New Blog Post 📚 Link in bio 👆👆👆 I have been seeing #infiveyears by @rebeccaserle pop up all over social media and when I saw @jordys.book.club recommend it I knew I had to jump on board and just wow! Dannie is a serial planner. She knows every detail in her life but she wakes up five years in the future with a different man, ring and apartment! Right before midnight she wakes up at home! She has a best friend! She is her opposite! She is creative and flies by the seat of her pants! Sounds like a romantic comedy right?! Hi jinks ensue! Two crazy gals who are opposites! Two guys to choose from. Current man and 5 years in the future man! THIS IS NOT A ROMANTIC COMEDY I REPEAT, THIS IS NOT A ROMANTIC COMEDY! This book simply blew me away. I cried A LOT through this book. ⚠️WARNING⚠️ be in the right mind set while reading this book! This book is absolutely beautiful, heartbreaking and soulful all wrapped into one. It makes you question if everyone has a destiny leading them instead of their plans guiding them. This is a true love story, but not one you are expecting. IF YOU HAVE NOT READ “IN FIVE YEARS” STOP READING NOW

Okay, so I finally finished reading the book, “In Five Years”, and I am in shock. It definitely took a way different turn than I thought it would have. So this is going to be very different content from me... I am going to vent about this book that has taken me on an emotional rollercoaster. FIRST OF ALL, Aaron/Greg is a babe... I can't see him, but I'm telling you right now that I fell in love with him in the very beginning of the book. I think the mystery of him really just draws you in. Second, I literally thought i was going to die when you read that Bella is pregnant... the whole time you're trying to figure out how on earth this all leads to Dannie and Aaron being together in five years. All you know is Dannie had that dream/future premonition where she is married to Aaron and living in the apartment Aaron and Bella are buying. THEN YOU FIND OUT... BELLA ISNT EVEN PREGNANT... SHE HAS CANCER. BOYYYYYY... My mind literally was shocked. I could not believe it. IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW, RIGHT? Bella is gonna die, and then Dannie and Aaron will end up together just like you read at the beginning... BUT NO... BELLA BOUGHT THE APARTMENT FOR DANNIE AS A GIFT... the apartment is not Aarons like she thought in the future... so now you're really confused.... BUT WAIT THERES MORE... Aaron and Bella get engaged and she is still dying of ovarian cancer... and then.... the worst thing happens... Bella dies.... after she dies they have a funeral and Dannie and Aaron go back to the apartment... THEY END UP GOING THROUGH THE EXACT SCENE THAT WE SEE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK... EXCEPT... its not them being married... its Dannie wearing Bella’s ring out of grief and Dannie and Aaron hook up out of grief for their loss. and then Dannie explains that she realizes that... she isn't in love with him, muchness married to him... she is just missing her friend... then Aaron leaves and that is that for them. they decide to be friends.... then Dannie wakes up the next day and bumps into her psychiatrist lookin all cute at the deli and thus sparks her next romance... HOLY HELL WHAT A ROLLERCOASTER I AM IN COMPLETE SHOCK AND DONT KNOW WHAT I EVEN THINK ABOUT ALL OF THIS... my romantic self wanted Dannie and Aaron together so now im depressed but its fine... i hate everything...

Yesterday, the #AuthorsChallenge2019 was #InFiveYears and I noodled all day about what I saw five years from now for me as a writer. That’s when I came to a conclusion: This is an idiotic challenge. Want to know why? Five years ago — 2014 — I was in the first year of a really crappy, soul sucking job, recovering from two years of unemployment. I was on the third book of my #steampunk series with a new publisher promising a lot to us. And I had an agent who told me she believed in my work. All of that has change. Dramatically. What I learned between then and now — a plan is good, but pales in comparison to adaptation. When the dust settles and you’re the #lastmanstanding the only thing you can do is take stock and move forward. No, I won’t look five years down the road because I don’t know what’s going to happen five minutes from now. Your best #preparation for life is to have an #endgame in mind but — as #BruceLee once said — be like water. Perhaps one of the most relevant, poignant things I have heard in my life. Onward. It’s the only direction I know. And no, not all of these challenges will be sunshine and rainbows.
