Just finished What Does It Feel Like by Sophie Kinsella— and I’m still sitting with it.

This isn’t the light, laugh-out-loud Kinsella we’re used to. It’s quieter, deeper, and unexpectedly emotional. The story gently explores illness, identity, and the fragile way life can shift in an instant… but without ever feeling heavy or overwhelming.

What I loved most is how real it feels — the confusion, the small moments of clarity, the relationships that suddenly matter more than anything. It’s tender, honest, and written with so much heart.

Not a typical “easy” read — but definitely meaningful one…. especially poignant knowing it’s her last book…and you can feel that depth in every page….a tender, reflective goodbye that stays with you long after the last page.

The Flight Attendant by Chris Bohjalian A thriller plot.....an alcoholic flight attendant.....a one-night stand.....Dubai.....blackout.....wake up the next day hungover.....and a dead guy next to you! Did she do it? That’s the story.......and sadly for Cassie Bowen a forgotten/blurry one; she’s a self-destructive flight attendant, who escapes her pain through alcohol and sex. Well-Behaved Indian Women by Saumya Dave Well-Behaved Indian Women is the debut novel of author Saumya Dave. It tells the story of Simran, Nandini and Mami, three generations of mother/daughter relationships......and the complex love between them. The story displays a great mix of indian-Gujrati culture and modern day living in the USA; the issues that arise when having mix cultures while growing up and also the changes that occur. The Guest List by Lucy Foley Super read! A great thriller/who dunnit novel, after a looong time! This was the June/July 2020 pick for Reese’s book club.....the story takes place on a remote island that is the venue for a celebrity wedding. Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner A modern day story about friendship is the central theme for this read; a somewhat fast paced summer book is exactly how I would describe it. It’s a real mix bag of : drama, chick-lit, mystery and romance, it has it all! As exciting as that sounds, I did struggle with the first 25% of this read, until the most shocking turn of events happened, and from there it just moved til the very end! The book discussed everything from social media, blogging, fat-shaming, Cape Cod, TV reality....I really smiled when Hritik Roshan and Parle-G biscuits were discussed 😄 yay for us brown peeps! Camino Winds by John Grisham Camino Winds by John Grisham is a typical whodunnit novel. It brings to light a mix of politics, nursing home fraud and the pharmaceutical business. I’m a great John Grisham fan, but I was disappointed with this book, and struggled to finish it. The characters are pretty dry, and not much suspense throughout the book. The Half Sister by Sandie Jones I recently was lucky enough to be one of the first 100 readers to win a digital copy of The Half Sister, before its June 2020 release. And I loved it! The Recovery of Rose Gold by Stephanie Wrobel “Because if mothers never forget then daughters never forgive.” That’s the line that really got me in this much awaited thriller by Stephanie Wrobel. Rose Gold Watts believed she was sick for eighteen years. She thought she needed the feeding tube, the surgeries, the wheelchair . . . Turns out her mother is a really good liar. The novel is actually based on the true story/events of the Gypsy Rose Blanchard case, that showcases Münchausen syndrome, a mental disorder in which a person repeatedly and deliberately acts as if he or she has a physical or mental illness when he or she is not really sick. The story starts with the release of Patty (mother) from prison, and how Rose Gold (daughter) decides to take her in, forgive & forget; has Rose Gold forgotten?? It’s a very twisted, cat & mouse , dark yet witty storyline that had me from the get go. The novel has a very “Girl in the train” / “Gone girl feel to it, which I truly enjoyed. By the end of it, I couldn’t decide who was more sick, Patty or Rose Gold. 😄 Super read especially during the lockdown, stay home!
