My Celiac Disease Symptoms
Hi, I'm Yv, I'm 31yo and I found out in March of this year that I have Celiac Disease. I want to share my experience with it so I don't feel so lonely and so other gluten intolerant people and celiac people might feel they are not alone.
I realize we all have different bodies and different symptoms but I want to share mine:
☞ Generalized Inflammation that looks and feels like this:
☹ Bloated Gut (I look 7 months pregnant and my belly feels hard)
☹ Arthritis mostly on ankles and wrists
☹ Liquid ear wax coming out of ears during the night
☹ Horrible cramps during menstruation (because everything is so inflamed in there)
☹ Cystitis (literally every organ in my body gets inflamed and my bladder is no exception so it feels like I have to pee every 20 min.)
☹ Weird burps (kind of like hiccups; thee ones that hurt a little)
☹ Difficulty taking deep breaths
☹ Right side sciatica
☹ Right side mid-back pain
☞ Other Symptoms (probably also related to inflammation):
☹ Foggy mind (I get depressed and everything seems negative and so dark) (I then read about this on the book "Grain Brain" by David Perlmutter and made a lot of sense)
☹ Bad nightmares
☹ More thirsty
☹ Dry skin, specially really dry elbows and hands
☹ Gas, lot's of gas
☹ Fatigued (can't even go to the supermarket, can't be around people)
☹ Sometimes cramps
☹ Night Sweats
☹ Most of the time constipation (that made me get hemorrhoids), sometimes diarrhea
☹ I become easily bloated by ingredients that don't affect me when i'm fine.
☹ Even after eating I end up feeling hungry
☹ Irregular periods
☹ Infertility
☹ Depression, I hate my life and myself. Because my intestinal villi is or was almost non existent I can not absorb serotonin, dopamine and other neurotransmitters and nutrients well.
☹ Anemia, because of the same reason.
I've been realizing that I might eat something with gluten on it and start feeling the effects hours later, even a couple of days later, and the symptoms start to increase in number and intensity during the next weeks.
It takes me around 3-4 weeks to fully detox from the gluten I accidentally ate. Then I slowly start feeling better and better, thinking straight, enjoying life again, being able to exercise, and just being more optimistic.
*Also interesting: As I've been removing gluten (also dairy and sugar) from my diet for longer periods of time, the little red "pimples" that were in my arms my whole life are starting to go away!
