hi friends! the end of this month (May 28, 2021) marks the two year anniversary of the first gifset i ever made! i have grown and progressed tremendously in my editing skills over the past two years, and i love expressing my creativity with gifs!
since last year’s celebration was so fun and connected me with so many incredible gif makers on this site, i am super excited to celebrate again this year! i am commemorating a personal milestone, but the overall goal of this celebration is to recognize, uplift, and inspire gif makers to love themselves and their art! absolutely anyone is welcome to join in, whether you’ve been giffing for a million years or just started yesterday.

i found arianna’s blog at some point when my fixation on the umbrella academy was at its peak. i was admiring her gifs before i even learned how to gif. it was so amazing to see someone creating so heavily for a show i loved so much, and when i first started out i would compare my tua colorings to hers to try and improve. to this day i am floored every time i see one of her magnificent tua edits in my tag.
arianna is an influential editor to me because she is literally one of a kind. i tried to mimic her style this week for the gmpmeme, and in trying to get in her head i was reminded just how unique and special her creations are. her gifs are incredibly detailed, intricate, and well thought out. each of her sets is a full Experience. her meticulous dedication to her many fandoms is a gift for all of us on here who get to experience her creations for free. her passion shines through in every single work. she forges her own path, putting her visions and ideas into action. and on top of being an incredible gif maker, she is also a very sweet and kind person to talk to, and it’s clear that she is well-loved on this site. i’ve seen her mentioned frequently in other people’s appreciation posts, insp links, shoutouts, etc. because we can all agree that she is absolutely incredible. it is undeniable that her skills, passion, and personality are cause for celebration, admiration, and appreciation.

i first found christie’s blog when i was coming back to tumblr from a little bit of a break, when i was trying to reconnect with the fandoms i had been active in. when i saw all of her posts i was overwhelmed with excitement that someone else out there was also super into disney channel. i followed her and admired her stuff before i even knew how to gif, and she followed me back shortly after i started learning. i remember freaking out a little bit when we first became mutuals because i looked up to her so much.
christie is an influential editor to me because she’s one of the reasons i started giffing in the first place, and her passion and enthusiasm are infectious. when i was new to giffing i used to make my silly little disney channel sets and compare them to hers; i would tag her and get so excited every time she reblogged something i made. it directly fed into my motivation to gif to have someone who made me feel like i wasn’t alone, to have someone else who cared about my obscure shit and made me feel seen. christie is influential because she is a complete powerhouse in the disney channel fandom, and she gifs for herself always. she doesn’t do any of it for notes or for clout, but just because she cares so much. her drive to make whatever she wants, whenever, has been extremely helpful in my journey to learning to do the same over the years. in the beginning i was so self-critical and obsessed with notes, but her stuff always reminded me that this is art and it’s supposed to be fun. christie makes gorgeous edits for niche fandoms, and her passion shines through with each creation.

i first found vega’s blog through her participation in the gif maker positivity meme a year ago. when i saw her gifs, i immediately knew that she was someone who wasn’t afraid to stretch outside of her comfort zone. and it’s exactly for that reason that she has grown into such an incredible gif maker. she has improved exponentially just in the past year ive known her, and that is due to hard work, dedication, and trial and error. she embraces experimentation and switches up her style constantly to expand her range of skills.
vega is an influential editor to me because in the time that we have been mutuals, her content has inspired me to try so many new things. between all the fandoms she jumps into (i love her it and jatp content especially) to all the different techniques she tries out, her influence pushes me to diversify, to experiment, and to try. the nature of art is not stagnancy and comfort, but growth and evolution. vega’s work oozes passion; you can tell she deeply loves the content she creates and the fandoms she is a part of. additionally, she is a kind and warm presence on this site, and a good friend to have in your corner. if you don’t know vega, please go check out her amazing content.

i met kaz through the creatorhub discord server and i could instantly tell that he was an endlessly sweet, kind, and caring person. he’s literally bursting with love, and that becomes clear the second you talk to him, see him gushing in the tags about things/people he cares about, or receive one of his little digital love letters. ever-talented and extremely encouraging, he is both a great editor and a great friend to have on your side.
kaz is an influential editor to me because he often uses his creations to spread love and passion. in the time that we’ve known each other, he has made me the sweetest playlists, pokemon teams, and gifsets, and this is something he regularly does for others on this site. it’s so inspiring and uplifting to see someone so talented sharing his gifts with others, spreading the joy. he’s the reason i’m doing GIFTsets for my celebration right now; i know how special it feels to receive a personalized present from a friend on here, so i wanted to keep that chain going. kaz is the catalyst, the inspiration, the fuel for kindness and generosity.
