the goldilocks story kinda went like this
yeah so she was partners in ((crime)) with this dude mael doyle. he's real smart and loves stories of the fantasy nature. he's usually the one to find the jobs for them to do.... which lead them on that more "crime" type of lifestyle i guess.......
anyway so one day mael says that he's found a job for them accompanying a princess back to her kingdom. details were never finalized as to why but eh
introduce avarna protz, the princess of a very powerful kingdom that is practically buried in snow. she's popularly known for being as cold hearted as the weather she was brought up in. most likely why no one was very willing to accompany her on her journey.
details of the journey exactly are very messy and i never really figured it out but
idk mael tries his best to get close to avarna..... because he wants to be able to marry into royalty and take control of the kingdom ((WOW THANKS FROZEN FOR HANS)) orla and avarna talk more though and get a nice friend relationship building
somewhere along the way, mael notices he has no chance with avarna and gets real jealous of orla. and wOAH he's revealed to be a warlock ?? his interests in fantasy things and junk was actually just a cover up for him studying magic wHOA
so yeah he ends up turning orla into a bear to joke about her childhood story. in her bear state, orla doesn't have much control. mael uses her to threaten avarna into agreeing to marry him. to him it;s like a win/win scenario because orla technically isn't there anymore and at the same he has a creature to use for his advantage
details are fuzzy again but avarna saves the day and she and orla become girlfriends and idk orla stays in her kingdom and becomes a knight

Design Strategy
My project aims to bring the Black petrel’s population decline to the attention of the New Zealand public with an animated infographic. It was inspired by stumbling across the facebook page for the “Black Petrel Action group”, who are a collection of people from different organisations who came together over concern for the future of the Black Petrel. Unfortunately they are struggling to be heard. Their facebook group currently has 39 likes and efforts towards change are struggling. I chose an animation because it’s an engaging way of displaying information and can be distributed widely via the internet and social media. Through looking at examples of similar “cause based” animations I realised a framework with which to approach planning my animation.

Steps 1 and 5 are the more emotive based sections, lending themselves to a more expressive/narrative tone. When writing the narration I wanted to establish a New Zealand centric context as all New Zelanders are my target audience. I played off our culture’s embrace of the colour black, with the idea that the black petrel was the first one to wear it, long before many of our icons started doing it. This lets the viewer know from the beginning the NZ context and places the Black petrel among other NZ icons.
Steps 2 through 4 are the information heavy sections. They aim to describe the dropping numbers, explain why this is happening and then the steps and measures that fisherman can take to help. However the resolution is summarised with the idea that these steps aren’t happening and further observation is needed to insure it happens. This then brings in the call to action which is aimed not just at fisherman but the general public.
This call to action asks viewers to sign a petition and let government know that they support increased observation on fishing boats. They are also encouraged to share it with friends through the internet.
This leads to my second media for the project. A small single page website illustrated with a visual identity the same as the animation. It is where the video will be based and where people go to sign the petetion. Further information can be also be viewed in the form of infographic images which loop in and out on a slider. These are taken from the animation but could also include more dense information as it is viewable for a longer time than in the animation.
When developing the aesthetic style I was mindful that it should apeall to a large demographic of New Zealanders. The geometric vector look is intended to be sophisticated enough for adults to appreciate, and fun and engaging for younger audiences too. I have taken the same approach with the design of the information.
