"DECLINES TO SEND PICKETERS TO JAIL," Toronto Star. May 16, 1934. Page 3. ---- Union Leaders Freed With Warning From Court ---- Although Mr. Justice Kerwin found that J. B. Salsberg and Ken Scott had been guilty of breach of injunction restraining them and others from picketing the premises of the Colonial Footwear Ltd., Adelaide St. W., his lordship declined to make an order committing them to prison, but warned them to refrain from such breaches in future.
"I have come to the conclusion that if these men or either of them were imprisoned it would smack of vindictiveness," said Mr. Justice Kerwin, warning the violators of the injunction "and an order to pay a sum of money would not be to my mind quite right.
His lordship dismissed the applications against the eight others.
