Meline heard Chris’ voice through the comm in her ear. “Chris, what’s going on? Are you and your team alright?” She heard Chris’ even voice on the other end of the line and listened intently.  “Are you sure that trusting her is the right thing to do? I can’t emphasize enough the risk that you’re taking.”

Meline paused for a moment after considering Chris’ response.  “Alright. Be careful, okay? If anything feels shady or goes down, let me know immediately. I’ll do whatever I can to help you and your men out, okay? I’ll be on standby.”

“You don’t have to stay. I understand.”

“are you joking? i’m not going anywhere.” there was no way chris was going to change her mind. her foot was down. she knew the consequences, just like anyone else who joined. backing out now would only be a coward's move. “besides    who’s gonna watch your back?”
