Aftermath
I am too lazy to edit and I am sorry.
Dawn and Solas heavy, a little happy at the end if you squint. I'll probably tear this apart eventually but ehhhhh.
Every other odd for Dawn. Go.
OH SWEET MYTHAL OKAY. UMM I don't know if you mean Companion!Dawn or Inquisitor Dawn so I'll do both.
Also i did not realize that you said every other odd until I was done. Oops. have some extra.
1: What does their bedroom look like?
C!Dawn's bedroom is just that, a bedroom, she's staked out a guest room with a corner of the roof missing and she has a tent all boho'd over her bed to ensure the weather doesnt get to it. Most of the time she'd writing in the library or chilling outside and practicing rift magic.
Inquisitor Dawn is just as sparse, she doesn't have anything to personalize the space. With the exception of the gifts that make it past Leliana and Josephine.
3: Do they exercise, and if so, what do they do? How often?
She is a loser who jogs in the middle of the night to work off nightmares. After joining the Inquisition Dawn is probably forced into training with Cass and Bull just to try and be less of a burden on the team since she's more of a defensive mage after years of running the fuck away from Templars.
5: Cleanliness habits (personal, workspace, etc.)
She'd not used to having a reliable place to put things so she tends to keep all her papers and clothes organized out of sheet necessity should she need to book it at the last second.
7: Favorite way to waste time and feelings surrounding wasting time.
Well, she enjoys trying to get Solas to break his composure in a whole variety of ways. At the time is doesn't feel wasted but when she'd rushing a report the next day Dawn is cursing the creators.
9: Makeup?
AHAHAHAHAHA no. Just naturally dark circles under her eyes from too many sleepless nights and worry.
11: Intellectual pursuits?
Elvhen lore and the fade are two of her biggest topics. Her father was attempting to gather information from other clans and challenging long held beliefs. This lead to him being kicked out of his Dalish clan and running into the woman who would become Dawn's mother. So Dawn has been immersed in the idea of questioning tradition from birth. After her parents were taken by Templars those ideas and theories were all she had of her father so like any lost child she clung to them and they helped shaped the adult she is now.
The fade curiosity is all her own. After spending so many nights in ancient temples and ruins she was bound to eventually become conscious in the fade. At first it was a means to discovering more about her ancestors but eventually she developed a thirst for knowledge concerning the realm of dreams in and of itself.
13: Sexual Orientation? And, regardless of own orientation, thoughts on sexual orientation in general?
Pansexual, Though in particular Solas-sexual. Love is not easy to find in the woods, especially when you spend so much time alone. Sex is a natural urge all creatures feel so Dawn doesn't spend much time thinking on the topic. Besides she doesn't care about most persons enough to want to care about who they're sleeping with, since when is is her business?
15: Biggest and smallest short term goal?
Smallest short term goal: Finish reading the chant of life without laughing.
Biggest short term goal: See how many times she can get Solas to growl at her.
17: Preferred mode of dress and rituals surrounding dress
Function over form, post redcliffe is anything function that isnt red.
She preffers elvhen clothing, but will wear shoes on occasion. Such as ankle deep in undead guck in the Fallow mire.
post-game she wears a lot of slinky elvhen inspired dresses despite how much she despises them to try and gain the respect of the Keepers to convince them to be more united.
19: What do they think about before falling asleep at night?
C!Dawn: 'The Inquisitor can kiss my ass.;
Dawn: 'The Chantry can kiss my ass.'
21: Turn-ons? Turn-offs?
Turn-ons:
Ropes, Growling, Biting, Rough-sex, places you might get caught, being pinned to surfaces.
Turn-offs:
Hesitancy, too many questions, Mentioning the breach, the color red
23: How organized are they? How does this organization/disorganization manifest in their everyday life?
Way more organized then one would think. The only times her stuff isnt neatly put away are when she comes back from a mission of some sort and then she just collapses and sleeps for 12 hours. She'll put it away when she's rested.
25: How do they see themselves 5 years from today?
Unrealistically: Queen of the Creator-damn Elves
Realistically: Arguing with a bunch of Keepers over Lore and Legend
Where she actually will be: An over-stressed single mom babysitting a bunch of Keepers First's who keep having pissing contests in her conference room.
27: What is their biggest regret?
C!Dawn: AHAHAHA KILLING LYRIUM INFECTED LILLY IN REDCLIFFE AND BEING UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP SOLAS (RP STUFF MAN I DO HORRIBLE THINGS TO DAWN ASK CADASHINGTHRUTHESNOW THAT ENTIRE MESS OF ANGST WAS MY SUGGESTION)
Inquisitor Dawn: Going to that damn conclave to look for her parents in the first place.
29: Reaction to sudden extrapersonal disaster (eg The house is on fire! What do they do?)
"It's always fucking me isn't it?" and then she gives this huge sigh before dealing with it. Doesn't matter what it is man post-game nothing is going to surprise her.At least visibly anyway, can't panic in front of her baby.
31: Most prized possession?
Technically her son Koju but possession would be the halla necklace her mother left to her.
33: Concept of home and family?
Your family is the people you trust, and your home is where you feel safe. She's grew up in short supply of both so she tries extra hard to make sure Koju has plenty of both.
35: What activities do they enjoy, but consider to be a waste of time?
In the fade she'll often bring up her memories of Solas, sometimes that's all she does. Just sit there remembering when there's research to be done. It's rather useless, but she keeps doing it regardless.
37: Are they more analytical or more emotional in their decision-making?
Analytical most of the time, save an extremely personally topic comes up and then shes rather torn between the two.
39: Would you say that they have a superiority-complex? Inferiority-complex? Neither.
Inferior, perhaps it doesn't feel that way on the surface to anyone just meeting her. But after years of being rejected by humans because of her magic and ears, and the Dalish because of their aversion almost as much as the dwarves to anything beyond their 'traditions' she's a very sad and lonely loser.
It's more subconscious than anything. Comes out in subtle things. Eating alone, drinking in the back of the tavern unless prompted by bull to join the others, training in the dead of night so others dont see how badly she feels she doing. Things like that.
41: Hobbies?
She will take naps anywhere and everywhere she can. Like, behind the throne, in the smithy, in the rafters, on a beam, in a closet, under a table, Varric has a pot going about where they'll find her next.
43: Religion?
Elvhen gods all the way. Can't read the chant of light without laughing at how dramatic humans make everything sound.
45: Do they express their thoughts through words or deeds?
More deeds then words at first. She uses sarcasm and wit as a shield, she and Dorian practice with each other all the time.
47: How do they express love?
Subtle acts in the open. Some honey in his tea, an extra candle left out, an addition to notes, a look across a crowded room and a smile instead of a smirk when their eyes meet.
In private shes more passionate but 'ma'arlath' will not usually pass her lips until he is asleep or has left.
49: Is this person afraid of dying? Why or why not?
She does not fear her own death, but the death of her people, of the culture they so desperately cling to as it crumbles and slips from their fingers. And the death of the one she loves.
Dawn does not fear her own death because she feels like she's just one more drop in the huge ocean of souls that have come and gone. What does her life mean in comparison to others?

Cole’s reflection on their thoughts:
Cole: The trees all stand together, so why have I always felt so alone? The sunlight filters through these great canopies but I fear it will never reach me. Always alone. So alone.
Dawn: I don't think everyone in the room heard that Cole, why not try again. //grits teeth//
Cole: But you're not alone, not anymore. Solas and the Inquisitor talk to you all time. And you go out drinking that gross stuff with Bull and Sera. And-
Dawn: Enough. I get it. Okay? I get it.
Comment(s) on Mages:
Friendlies- 'You come here often? Cause you really shouldnt be out in the open you suck at being an Apostate.'
Enemies- 'Oh I'm sorry, tell me again why the Chantry shouldn't think us all monsters when you go around lighting small animals on fire?'
Comment(s) on Templars:
'So, ever tried out 'the seductive mage and the naughty templar? No? You should, all that repressed anger is amazing to work out of their system. You know, if they don't actually capture you first.'
When looking for something: 'Sweet Andranste's Tits, it was right there I swear!'
When finding a campsite:
anywhere with little cover 'Welp, it's not out in the open or anything. Perfect place to camp'
after- 'I was kidding you jackass if we're attacked in our sleep I'm using you as an Inquisitor shield.'
When the Inquisitor Falls: 'Spend time on your knees later, GET UP.'
When they are low on Health:
'oh sure, take your time, I'm not dying or anything over here.'
'Thats not blood its tree sap. Clearly.'
'oh just what I needed, another hole in body'
'I dont have a potions problem, you just have a problem not using me as a shield.'
When they see a Dragon:
'Guys, I want a dragon.'
'Hey, do you think he'll teach me to shapeshift into a dragon if I ask him nicely'
'I needed a new pair of pants to offer vivienne as a peace offering anyway.'
'Do you enjoy living Inquisitor? Or is it just too strenuous for you, because three dragons in one day is a bit excessive.'
When during their small side quest:
'I admit it, I'm impressed. You might make a good dignitary one day. You know, after we find your dignity.'
Default saying: 'What? Can't go Ten minutes without consulting me?'
Travel Banter with Canon Companions of your choice:
Sera: Alright, stahp it.
Dawn: Stop what?
Sera: Using those bigs words all the time.
Solas: It is not our fault you choose not extend your vocabulary Sera.
Sera: See? You're doing it again.
Solas: Didn't we meet in these ruins?
Dawn: No, we met in those other decrepid elven ruins.
Solas: You haven't changed much.
Dawn: So wait, you revealed where I, the apostate, was hiding, while you the apostate were out in the open.
Solas: *sigh* I didn't do it out of malice Dawn.
Dawn: I get that, but perhaps a post card sent ahead would have been nice. Something in the last three years as a way of 'hello' before you show up on my doorstep soaking wet and demanding my help stopping the literal father of all darkspawn.
Solas: We are both hermits Dawn, how would you have preferred I contacted you?
Dawn: Not at all.
Dorian: So did you hear about Cullen and Lilly?
Dawn: //snorts// Who didn't? I could hear them from the tavern over Bulls laughter.
Dawn: So, wait, wait, wait. You're telling me that some poor noble wants alone time with the both of us?
Dorian: They couldn't handle us in a million years.
Sera: I guess you could say they want double the D.
Dawn: I'm not sure if I should hit you or applaud you.
Dawn:No Cole I can't actually do that to Sera.
Cole: Then why ar-
Dawn: I'm allowed to dream Cole.
Dawn: SO.....I heard the next chapter of Sword and Shield might be coming out soon.
Varric: Not you too?
Dawn: I've lived alone in the woods most of my life Varric, theres never been anyone to judge me. And by the time I realized how cheesy it was, it was too late.
Friendship?: Alright, what is it?
Leaving the Inquisition: This has been an adventure Inquisitor, but now we must part ways my friend. Thank you.
I love how girls who are fighting will immediately have each other's backs if someone else in the room attempt to insults their nemesis. Like excuse me, IM the only one who gets to talk to her like that.
That or someones picking on Krem.
Also Look I finished something.
stupid rift eyes dont look right without paint tool sai magic
Countdown meme:
1 Day: “You are a mistake. You should never have existed,” says the Elder One or someone says this line from the Enemy of Thedas trailer to your Inquisitor. What is their reaction? How does it make them feel?
It is not the first time Dawn has heard these words, and it is likely she will hear them again. But for one blindingly agonizing moment she thinks of two apostates who might have escaped the templars if they're daughter hadnt been sick.
"Of course I am!" she shouts, for this is a 'truth' she accepted long ago. "But then so are you. So why don't you come over here and see if we can't cancel each other out?"
I wrote a drabble about my Inquisitor. Excuse me while I decide to add more or not.
Her head was starting to hurt as well and she winced as she opened her eyes, apparently she’d just lacked the common sense to open them until now. Of course the minute things started to come into focus the mage immediately wished she’d kept them closed. Dawn parted her lips to scream but all that came out was a broken whimper of a sob as she scurried away from a smoking pile of, well she wasn’t sure but the skull suggested things her stomach disliked immensely.
When her back hit a surface teal eyes flitted around a ruined courtyard, pulling her head between her knees Dawn tried to remember what it meant to be alive and not afraid, but as an apostate the latter was trained into her very being. Ever so slowly, as the hissing of fires of remains of her brethren started to die out the ache in her lungs eased.
Shaking Dawn stood up, using the wall as support, “Looks like we’re alone again Sticky.” She spoke to the staff that lay a few feet away. Stumbling she approached it and picked it up. Only to collapse back against the wall. Her palm felt warm, and the familiar feeling of magic and dreams crept at the edge of her vision.
Confusion made her look at her hand, fear made her aware of the sounds of not so distant foot falls, panic had her running.
Looking over her shoulder Dawn tried to remember spells to muffle her footfalls, how to summon a spirit to distract the soldiers, anything at all to help her escape. But the blast had rendered her so stunned by its horrific power not so much as a novice’s light spell flitted past through her brain. She felt so deaf and numb that when she turned a corner and came face to face with a woman of considerable armature there was no chance to react.
Dawn was simply thrown against a wall with a sword to her throat before she could speak. Freezing instantly she met the eyes of her assailant.
“Who are you?” the woman asked, and for a moment Dawn considered giving no answer and simply begging for death.
“D-Dawn Ostwick.” Any other time she would curse herself for the stammer, but the steely eyes of what could only be a commander in front of her warrant a certain caution. Of course even without the added benefit of being an apostate Dawn’s sure the woman’s reaction would be the same.
“Pentaghast, I’m not sure scaring her to death is the best way to get answers. She looks like death warmed over.” Dawn cannot see the speaker, but the voice is silky and gruff at the same time. There’s an underlying tension to the voice, like he doesn’t want to be here longer than necessary. Dawn shares the sentiment, but she doubts voicing this will help.
Dawn’s eyes shift from ‘Pentaghast’ and drift to the insignia on the woman’s armor. An eye, with the rays of a sunburst. This time Dawn swears in elven, something picked up from the occasional fellow apostates she’s encountered. The sword it pressed tighter against her throat.
“How did you survive the blast?” Cassandra hisses, her accent odd to Dawn’s ears.
“I don’t know.” The honest desperation in the mages voice gives Cassandra momentary pause, and by momentary its meant none.
“You are the only survivor of a blast that killed thousands and you say you have no idea how you made it out?” Her eyes narrow and for a moment Dawn fears that Cassandra will slit her throat right there and be done with it. “At this moment you are the only threat I see. Therefore you’re coming with us.”
