I'm finally back on the Insert Credit show!!!
We actually get into the nitty gritty of why I put my book out, which was nice! Don't forget you can buy it on Amazon in print or direct in pdf/epub.
Unity was once considered the savior of the game industry. Now I wouldn't recommend anyone use it for anything.
if i want to start listening to insert credit, is there a specific episode i should start from, or do i just start from ep1
YIPEE--ahem I mean.
I can't say there is one specific episode to recommend, but I do not recommend you go from the beginning. this is an old podcast with several men (often times women too) whom most people don't know to recognize by voice if at all immediately, talking about stuff that is waaay into their own field of knowledge and interest so you'll be confused for the first episodes you listen to no matter what you do.
my advice is, because you know Tim Rogers pretty well, always focus on episodes with his name for the beginning, and try to find a title or subject that calls for you, if not the most recent episode. they have all sorts of callbacks, but it is a weekly "game" show so it's not meant to be followed linearly
I also recommend, for finding your comfort faster, to scroll down the episode list to try and find if anyone you know was over as a guest sometime. Bennett Foddy was in an episode or two, for example. Thorhighheels too. another way of doing this is looking for list episodes, like their INSERT CREDIT ANNUAL episodes, GOTY [YEAR] episodes and their console rankings (they've done ps2, xbox 360, 3DS, etc)
and if you're anything like me, I personally recommend the episodes "Donkey Milk" "Every Elephant That Has Ever Died" and any episode with Mathew Kumar in it, because he's really funny. but that's just me.
Brandon Sheffield interviews musical artist chibi-tech on her career in chiptune, working in Japan, and breaking through the noise in front
HECK YES
Insert Credit Show 262 - Phantastic, with Gita Jackson

After I gave someone the idea about it, I was invited onto the Insert Credit podcast to talk about The King of Fighters and SNK. Come listen to Brandon Sheffield, Patrick Miller, Azurelore Korrigan and myself talk about SNK and KOF for a couple of hours.
in episode 298 of Insert Credit, Brandon Sheffield mentions (in the context of how hard it is to connect with people that aren’t into video games) that despite also being a music guy and a movie guy (and this is true) he can’t connect with music people or movie people well at all. and then he joked that this is because “they think they’re better than us” which honestly I laugh because yes that is a joke but I do also just think like that sometimes.
like in theory people might probably think of me as a “game guy” as much as I see some of my peers as music people or movie people or even manga people but like god damn is it embarrassing to even make this comparison because like HOW does playing over a hundred games a year and researching game history and development compare to someone who’s seen every kaiju movie ever or some shit. you can’t! it is not comparable! that guy I just made up is cool as hell!
