SHE (1935) 14 x 36" (35 x 91 cm.) insert poster, USA. Helen Gahagan, Randolph Scott, Helen Mack, Nigel Bruce, dir: Lansing C. Holden, Irving Pinchel; RKO. A wonderful poster featuring some of the most tense moments enacted in this classic fantasy horror from the makers of King Kong. Spectacular conceptual art as only RKO presented during the 1930s. It is the Bauhaus-inspired sets (Van Nest Polgase), Max Steiner's score and the mannered performance of Helen Gahagan as She which give the film its special atmosphere.
2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968) 36 x 14" (90 x 35 cm.) insert poster, USA. Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, William Sylvester, Douglas Rain, dir: Stanley Kubrick; MGM. The film, a master in technical achievement and truly an artistic masterpiece in the science fiction realm, realistically detailed the future of technology -- much of which has come to pass during the 40 years since its release. There was an Academy Award for Best Special Visual Effects, and many nominations including those for director Kubrick, the writers and art direction.
