the bedroom is quiet - at least, as quiet as can be expected, with the sounds of soldiers moving about outside. if you squint, you can see the training grounds from the window - a cruel oversight, really. a subtle mockery.
a chair is pulled up beside the bed, and levi drowses there, head tilted back, a cold cup of tea on the table nearby. his eyes are half-lidded, ringed with dark shadows. it’s been too long since he’s seen a bed, or a full meal for that matter, but little less than a titan attack could draw him from this room.
he twitches suddenly, registering a noise, a rustling of sheets, and just like that he’s awake, coming to alertness with customary speed. he glances down at the bed to see petra watching him, and his lips press tightly together as he leans forward, the only outward sign of emotion.
“petra.” he shifts, ignoring the twinge of his ankle, resting his arms on his knees and watching her closely. “how are you feeling?”
