It’s a bit early--I’m three chapters/67 pps. in--but unless something goes horrendously sideways, Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts could wind up as one of my favorites of 2020.
There’s some mystery, it looks like there may be some romance, there’s just the right amount of quirky, and the characters are all striking the right chord with me. And while I am adoring Gunnar the cat, this looks to be an instance where that’s not because everything else about the book sucks.

This is a hot, dark, slightly desperate take on what it would be like if Fraser and Ray were closeted to each other, all the while dying of unrequited love and lust.

Maldoror-gw has been one of my favorite fanfic author ever for a long time now. She has a magnificent grasp on the inner life of her characters, writes jaw-dropping action, sizzling tension and rivalries/partnerships, burning hot sex scenes, perfect deadpan humor and comedy and is as good with short-stories as she is with novel-length plotty epics... She is a writer I followed happily in new fandoms I knew nothing about just because I wanted to read whatever she chose to write.
And she is finally back after almost a 10 year hiatus, and has started archiving all her past fics on AO3... and even is on the roll to finish Outland, her epic m/m original saga that could give a run for it’s money to Captive Prince.
If you ever read in Naruto, One Piece, Gundam Wing or like fantasy slash novel, I suggest you subscribe to her AO3 feed in order to (re)discover her work along as she archives it.
Man, I’m so happy, I can’t wait to re(re-re)read the Arrangement. <3
