He is a weird little gremlin that I wanna dissect like a frog and shake in a little jar. I hate him, I love him, I want nothing to do with him, I'm obsessed with him, I wanna drown him, I wanna hold him and give him forehead kisses, I wanna punch his face, I wanna cuddle him like a teddybear.

Most of all I want him to get therapy instead of a boyfriend bc relationships don't automatically fix a person, and I strongly disagree with the fetishization of this gay little man. And the fetishization of gay men in general. God bless ❤️

It’s the year of our lord 2023 and I just checked the House/Wilson tag on AO3. I shouldn’t be surprised that several of the top fics were written in the last 5-10 years. But I am surprised by the fact that most of them are fluff or crack. These two giant assholes, with a loving but toxic relationship, are ripe for fics exploring abuse and enabling and addiction and co-dependence and obsession. And yet, I am fascinated by the fact that their top fics (as ranked by bookmarks and kudos) revolve around fluff instead. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it did surprise me.

So, throwing this into the void: please rec me your fav House fics that deal with the darker side of their relationship. Endings could be sweet or painful, but I’d love to read about how disfuncional they are. Gimme addiction and infidelity. Gimme betrayal and co-dependance. Gimme Jimmy being just as toxic and broken as Greg.
