Product Review: Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser & Night Cream

When I opened the cleanser for the first time, I was hit by the very strong smell. It wasn’t unpleasant exactly, but it’s definitely not one I would choose if given the choice. I’m sensitive to strong smells, but this one didn’t seem to cause any ill effects luckily. Upon using it for the first time, I found that the cleanser had a few good and bad points. It didn’t lather much and was thus easier to rinse off the way I do it, however it meant it tends to dry out quickly so I have to use more and work faster than I would with other products. Overall, it seemed to wash my face well enough, but didn’t seem to have much effect on my moderate acne (either good or bad), nor any of my other minor skin concerns.

I had an equally mixed response to the night cream. I actually used it as my normal moisturizer, which may explain it, but since my skin is SO dry, I try to go for the thickest, most emollient cream I can find, which is often a night cream. It feels good on the skin, though a bit strange if you rub it on your lips as I usually do. It has the same strong scent as the cleanser, so they would pair well if you liked it. Unfortunately, I still had a lingering dry tightness after it absorbed, enough that it was uncomfortable. It was better than the lotion I was still using from the summer, but not much better than another brand I had picked up just before receiving my test products. A second application across the worst areas helped, but I’m always fearful of doing that lest it aggravate my acne. It also markets itself as having an effect on fine lines, and while I don’t have many, I haven’t seen any real change in the ones I do have. Lastly, my skin has a tendency to be quite flakey, and that hasn’t improved much, if at all, since using either of these products.

My overall impression? They’re okay products, not really worth the $30 or so they’re selling each one for, for me at least. Someone with slightly less dry skin, or who lives in a place with high humidity would probably have a much better outcome with them. But I will continue to use them and see if longer-term use gives me better results.

Yay free stuff :D

I finally got accepted to a campaign on BzzAgent.com (I signed up about a year ago) & it was for Burt's Bees Intense Hydration

Now, I love Burt's Bees already, so you can just imagine how excited I was to get some free Burt's Bees stuff.

They sent me some of the Intense Hydration line, & although I've been forgetting to use the night cream every night, I've used it about 5 nights & I already notice a difference in my skin.  Before I started, I had a dry patch of skin right between my eyebrows.  Not a big deal, but it would flake on my glasses & my OCD would make me have to clean them often.

Well, now that I've been using the cream, the dry patch is almost completely gone (it's still there a little bit, in my eyebrows, but not between them)

& it smells amazing!  I don't know what Cleary Sage is, but it smells really pretty without being overpowering  :D

You guys know how cheap I am - I would completely buy this stuff.  The jar I got is going to last FOREVER - I've only used about half a tablespoon worth of cream so far (& I was trying it on my feet as well, but that didn't work as I had hoped - it's face cream, I can't hold it against them ;D)

Burt's Bees® Intense Hydration I have really been enjoying the day and night intensive cream from Burt's Bees! My face is always so dry so this thick cream has been wonderful and made my skin super soft! Definitely a great cream for the winter months and I need to go out and get a body cream because I swear one of these days I'm about to start using the face cream all over!!
