Lyngsoe Systems | Denmark
Design of a web-based software, Lyngsoe Sorter Controller™.
The product enables libraries to adjust sorting strategies to handle and sort the materials that are returned to the library.
Process:
This project started with the purpose to create an intuitive and easy-to-use interface for this new product and deliver a consistent user experience across the product.
The continuous collaboration with the project manager, developers, and marketing department was extremely important for the success of this project. We developed concepts for the user interface and used paper-based mockups and interactive prototypes to communicate the solution’s ideas. Throughout the project, we continuously involved different stakeholders to ensure the solution targeted the end users and their needs.
The entire process leading to this product was iterative: the functionalities and the interface of the product were continuously adjusted to fit the needs of the end-users and guarantee the best user experience.
Results:
This project was the first one where UX was involved in the product development process. That changed the way the team used to approach the development of a new product.
This project contributed to outline a design path for future products aiming to create intuitive interfaces and clearly communicate the company brand
By showing good results obtained with this product, awareness about UX value spread across the company. This was especially possible with the support of ambassadors within the organization.
UX started to be involved in other projects across the company
Due to confidentiality reasons, product interface is not available online yet.

Designing a platform for teaching students about Open Data
This study was conducted as a part of ODEdu project, an initiative whose goal is to promote and expand the knowledge about Open Data. The aim of this study was to design an online learning environment for teaching Open Data to university students. The design approach picked for the current study was design thinking.
The project was realized in a team of 3 people.
The interactive prototype has been created using Axure RP 8. Check it out at http://yavd1k.axshare.com/

Exam for “Design Tools” course.
Brief of the project: Students at Aalborg University have access to Lynda.com, a learning material repository. It is one of the ways to make flipped classroom approaches easier. The simplest way for an instructor to point the students toward Lynda’s resources is through a simple link, which opens in another browser window. However, there are many other integration options with the platform used at Aalborg University, Moodle. The goal was to explore and prototype the following ideas:
1) The lecturer picks series of videos but the student’s browser shows them in frames within the pre-existing Moodle. 2) Students get an online space where they can post their favorite resources in Lynda to each other and to the next time that the course is enacted. 3) Students can rate the videos watched in direct conjunction with the video.
Ideas have been explored through paper prototyping and implemented through an interactive prototype in Axure RP 8.
Hey, I just finished my final web design assignment, an actual live web version of the chinchilla site prototype I made in another class earlier this semester. See prototype here
There are 5 pages to explore. A pop up will come up guiding you through the content, but if it doesn't, just hit 'help' in the footer.

A Sales Guy's Best Friend: The Prototype
Sales people - your neck is constantly on the line. It's a complicated art to say the right thing, at the right time, to close a deal. On top of that, you have quarterly number's looming over your head at all times, and often you have incomplete materials or unavailable subject matter experts to back up your pitch.
And let me guess, work samples sometimes just don't cut it. Often a client needs something more visual to articulate what "it" is or what "it" can be. A client desires to have this visual to wrap their own mind around scope, and to utilize it to solicit buy-in across peers and stakeholders within the business.
In interactive and particularly mobile, a prototype can be a wonderful first milestone to pace towards. Having a prototype can help shed light onto directionally where a project is headed and give clients a deliverable they can utilize to obtain project and budget approval. A prototype empowers clients to feel confident about what a project entails. It transforms them into the projects advocate.
So where do you start?
The following post highlights top prototyping tools based upon peer feedback, community insights and personal experience. Please contact me with other recommended prototyping tools that have been useful to convey a concept to a client in early stages - I'd love to hear from you.
PROTOTYPING TOOLS
Invision
http://www.invisionapp.com/
I've intentionally highlighted Invision first. They have an impressive mix of client testimonials, Fortune 1000 brands that utilize the tool, and positive third-party reviews on YouTube. The tool was built to support two tracks: provide a low fidelity experience (when desired) or align with how designers work (integration with Creative Suite) for high fidelity prototypes.
