Leo Godling au comic draft i drew up! :D
Context + big Godling au ramble below!
SLIGHT CW, mentions of extremely poor mental health, intrusive thoughts, suicidal thoughts.
so basically
Leo got out of his universe, the universe in which his brothers died, and he thinks it's his fault, and all of that horrible stuff happened and he's very very traumatized. he ended up getting picked up by the LG/SOP au crew, now with a steampunk Donnie added into their mix over the past year, and they really didn't mean to take on another kid, but they couldn't really just... leave him there. the guy's been through a lot, LG Donnie can't say no to those not-adorable, actually-fucking-traumatized eyes of his.
so they take him in, and start trying to give him a new life. But... Leo isn't exactly adjusting well. like, at all, understandably.
he has major PTSD, Steampunk Donnie looks VERY similar to his dead twin (them both being Rise Au's) that haunts him in his nightmares, and he hasn't truly had a single night's sleep in years in which he wasn't like ready to fight at a moment's notice. he's kind of forgotten what 'relaxing' looks like.
and so he has bad moments. he has some sensory issues, which do not do anything for his PTSD, and if he is startled or gets stressed enough, it can trigger him, and before he even realizes what he's doing, really, he's attacking the closest person to him, convinced that he's living out a memory of the past and he needs to survive.
I imagine this happens a lot, especially in the beginning of his earliest days, what with him being extremely freaked out by being yoinked out of his dimension, not understanding what's going on, and seeing faces that all eerily resemble his dead family members everywhere he turns. he probably figure he's hallucinating, it wouldn't be the first time.
those around him handle these episodes in a few different ways, but i would like to think the most surprising one would be LG Raph;
LG Raph kind of gets what Leo is going through, just a little bit. Although Raph's is more perhaps symptoms of OCD, and Leo's is PTSD, they both suffer from intrusive thoughts and have similar fears that they are bad people and are scared of themselves, of hurting others around them. Raph is older, (like 23 by now) and understands these thoughts aren't his actual wishes and wills, and he's grown and handles them a lot better.
side note; LG Raph is grumpy, yeah, and he can get angry, but he's not necessarily AS angry as he is in other variations-- he grew up seperated from everybody except for mikey, and spent most of his childhood just running around taking care of his goofy ass brother and getting him out of trouble. he's grumpy at times, but a lot more responsible, and learned pretty early on recklessness gets people hurt.
however... Leo does not get this yet, doesn't understand that intrusive thoughts aren't just regular thoughts, and thinks he's just a terrible, horrible person.
Leo, who later recieves the affectionate nickname 'Lulu', in order to help differentiate from LG Leo (Lee), has lived in a state of kill-everything-around-you-before-it-kills-you for so long that he really does not know how to deal with normal people again. he's forgotten how. and with dealing with them, he has to realize that he ISN'T a normal person anymore, not by a long shot. he can't turn his hypervigilance off, can't turn any of it off, and all the things he's done over the years to survive catch back up to him all the more in a ordinary environment like this-- he feels like he is a monster.
he's in a REAAALLLY bad mental state, feels like he is a horrible person undeserving of anything good in the world at all. point blank, he thinks that he is underserving of life itself at times.
this can be... a LOT for people who aren't used to this kind of thing.
LG Raph hasn't been through the exact same things as Lulu, of course, but he has had his own experiences with depression and feeling scared of yourself and your own thoughts.
so while everybody else is a little understandably freaked out, he kind of gets that Lulu really just needs someone to act normal with him.
when Lulu freaks out, and has an episode where he attacks people, Raph is the first to step in, partly because of protective big bro mode ofc, but also the first, after a little bit of time around him- Raph DOES still take a good bit to warm up to people- to be able to understand Lulu needs somebody to act like it's not a big deal.
thus, he handles the situation calmly, just picks lulu up and waits for him to come back to himself, and then acts all non-chalant because the last thing Lulu needs is another person freaking out.
also, on a fun other note, Lee (LG Leo), although he does not have any experience firsthand with intrusive thoughts or the like, he is very interested in psychology (he's very boring like that, bro actually sits down with a cup of tea and reads real books for hours on the human brain and mind to educate himself better) and helps Lulu a little bit through helping him understand that he has PTSD and explaining to him a little why his mind is the way it is.
also, Lee is a more physical doctor, too, (both magical and practical) that's why Raph was taking them to the Med-Wing. Lee has always had a bad leg, so he ended up taking on a more passive role to help the team that he resented a little at first but over the years got over it and stopped trivializing himself for.
He's basically the base's local Therapist/Psychologist and has some motherly energy about him lol.
that was a lot of text for one comic, mayhaps, but what can I say, I like infodumping and developing my characters on a emotional and psychological level and figuring out how they change over time and grow.
Lulu DOES get better. not fixed, but better.
Ill probably do another ramble on the more wholesome experiences he has at some point
