Demons in Warclema - Training/Preparation
Trigger Warning: There will be mention of torture and abuse, which I will be holding back on the details of. This is about a living creature being conditioned to be a monster.
The Lotorians created their interdimensional bioweapons, dimens (later renamed to "demons"), through genetic engineering. They are grown in vats, and after growing enough, implanted with memories from copied over from previously successful dimens. Sometimes, a major update to the dimen genome might result in the dimen taking a form that is different enough that the mismatch with the implanted memories causes some erratic behaviors, and this is usually solved by training a new one from scratch.
They are primarily trained by expendable robots that are expected to be destroyed a couple of times. The training includes being taught the Lotorian language with heavy use of negative reinforcement, such that they'll be ready to teach it to those they conquer the same way. They are also taught how to deal with various types of creatures and environmental factors that the Lotorians have discovered in the multiverse in a "we're just going to throw you in and leave it to you to figure out what to do to survive" sort of method. If the robot is destroyed, training ceases until a replacement robot is created/acquired/made available. If the robot is only disabled, it is often left to do the training to the limits of its abilities. This generally encourages a controlled rebellion by the dimen of trying to keep the robot training them damaged enough to not force them into anything, but not broken to the point that a fresh replacement is brought in and also not to the point of being unable to provide food and water. This will result in them seeking to enslave a population rather than outright exterminate them if the opportunity presents itself.
Eventually, the dimen learns that they can create offspring and impart their knowledge and abilities onto them, reaching a stage where it is called a "dimen lord". When this happens, the Lotorians begin setting up incentives for the offspring to rebel against the dimen lord that created them until the dimen lord learns how to keep a tight leash on them, usually through a vulnerability to psychic signals that the dimen lord begins to include in them. Unfortunately, the dimen lord needs to give such a vulnerability to themself in order to pass it on to any offspring, and this gives the Lotorians a way to easily defeat the dimen lord and its offspring later on.
Throughout this, the dimen is punished/abused/tortured for whatever excuse the Lotorians in charge of it can dream up, whether it is something the dimen has any control of or not. This is to teach the dimen that their only escape from the abuse is to literally escape, to get away from these abusers. When the dimen is judged to be ready, some ideal conditions for an escape are engineered by the Lotorians. There just happens to be a power outage that disables the locks and leaves an interdimensional transporter stuck with an open portal. The dimen takes this chance to escape, and after arriving, begins to shed whatever traits don't help it in this new dimension and work on building up traits that will help it. Then they take the lessons they learned about how the only way to avoid pain is to be the one to inflict it first, how refusing to enslave others allows them to enslave you, and that their choices are pretty much to rule or be ruled, and put those lessons to use as they take over the dimension.
The dimen is left without knowledge that their bodies are secretly transmitting information about their adaptations across dimensions to the Lotorians. They don't know that the Lotorians know the weaknesses they put into themself so that they can pass it on to their offspring. They also don't know that the Lotorians know exactly where the dimen ended up and are just waiting for the conquest to reach a point where the Lotorians can show up and save the world from the big bad demon lord.
