we know mychael's really clueless about science, technology, human biology, psychology and culture. it's logical, since he doesn't really need studying any of those for survival.

but! would MR!Mychael, who can't just use hypnosis, yet has to adapt on place, study these matters more in depth? to know how to use the knowledge he's obtaining from people with the utmost efficiency? and, because of it, be more into books and know more about human culture and psychology???

yes, i can imagine him being just fine with ± the same level of education the original Mychael has, learning how to behave around humans all by himself, but... you can't tell me he has never taken any interest in AT LEAST some «101 Method To Make People Do What You Want» silly book he'd find in the library. and i can imagine him rummaging through those shelves with psychology books and trying to find something timeworthy, either losing any interest, OR... actually studying these, taking the books with him to travel and read in breaks, maybe starting to enjoy reading so much more!!!! maybe even reading some basics on biology and culture to understand human world better and be able to pass as «more normal» in short interactions he might have!!!.. i don't think there's many people who'd disagree that a monster who acts as your usual human and knows everything you do is less terrifying than a monster who acts weird.

those possibilities range from «haha, mr!mychael is reading some low quality psychology books and starts talking to humans in therapy talk» to «mr!mychael decides for his permanent place of living to be a forgotten library and not a half-broken cabin (or at least steals books for his cabin his every visit in the town, making it into a small library soon)».

this would shift his personality even further from the original Mychael though, which is either a bad thing, or an enormous amount of space for creativity and analysis.

For context! Ooh, that's actually a pretty great analysis and theory about him! Since he can't straight up brainwash people, the next best thing is definitely learning how manipulation social cues work in order to gain things in his favor.

I don't know if he'd use a library as his place of living though, depending on the building that's a lot of ground to cover and maintain. Since he's a pretty skittish guy (his mind reading ability makes him incredibly paranoid of his surroundings at all times), I think he's less likely to stay put for more than a few weeks at a time before moving on elsewhere, keeping up with his nomad lifestyle the way OG!Mychael did before settling in his cabin.

But to answer your question, yes! He'd definitely study more about humans, anything really, in order to get himself out of situations. In a WIP of a ficlet I was writing for Patreon, he actually comes across a bird enthusiast Y/N, so he brings up bird species to see more friendly to them. That's just one situation though!
