For decades, gold and silver accoutrements have been staples of heavy metal music and fashion. Silver and gold are precious metals known for their glamour and durability. Rock and roll music, specifically heavy metal, is bold, rebellious, rare, and brilliant. Stage performers shine brightly, adorned with metal studs, chunky belts, glitter makeup, and sparkling metallic attire.

Despite their inherent rigid structure, heavy metals are compliant as they magically mold to the personality of their owners. From the diva to the grunge rocker, metals will forever make a unique statement on whomever is bold enough to adorn them.

Using her technical lighting skills, Jamie bounces light against metallic surfaces to illuminate her subjects. The artist covers her muses in gold and silver body paint and metallic embellishments, turning them into rock and roll art pieces.

Jamie uses colour-blocking with clashing tones to create a bold impact. Fluorescent backdrops set the stage, as black skin tones form dynamic negative shapes, creating a silhouette effect.

Known for her love of colour, Jamie uses black skin as the backdrop to colourful pigments and painterly brush strokes. Metallic Sudanese jewellery adorns the skin, for an additional study of texture and dimension.

Using black skin as both the canvas and the brushstroke, Jamie proves that black contains all colour. She illustrates that the colour black is not a negation of colour but rather the colour of beauty.
