day 66
It’s honestly so funny how much information various people are looking for in Stormlight Archive that Szeth is just sitting on. What do you mean he’s casually sitting in Urithiru lmao he’s so silly
[Wind and Truth: Interlude 10]
Is he only aware of Szeth? Or is he still underestimating Kaladin?
Why. Why would he not have eyes. Do we mean the omniscience? Or did he take a weird form?
Mind and heart want conquest, soul doesn't?
Does it make sense to give the cosmere one god? Really?
Ah, he's still thinking he's the best ruler. He's gotta listen to Jasnah more. Checks and balances, democratic decisions. He even says he should consider her.
Damn Cultivation, that plan really backfired, huh?
Guess we're getting Jasnah chapters. And possibly Dalinar, once Taravangian finds out where he is. Maybe he'll mess with Wit a little lmao
Or maybe it was his own power. He could be two, three or four people at the same time, feeling what they felt. By the time he was a teenager, he’d experienced every kind of drug, in someone else’s body, had slept with himself as various boys and girls. How was being just ordinary Alec supposed to compare?
I admit, I never realized Alec's ability to control someone like that would let him feel all of it, like that. That is...
Yeah. That's gonna fuck ya up.
ok well. that actually made me like alec a lot better lmao
clearly he doesn't feel much of anything for taylor, but i do appreciate that he went out of his way to make things right for her, and taylor would never even know about the extent of it (i'm assuming he's not planning to let the rest know)
i also like that he definitely did this 80% for laughs and kicks and only 20% for the sake of actual retribution. i don't need him to be a good boy, i just need him to be interesting. in that sense, i would've still liked him if he ended up killing her, because it still would've made him more fun to read about (he's a villain after all), but i very much prefer that this was all an elaborate charade to get sophia to do what the rest of the gang agreed on from the start and not his "going rogue" moment

They agreed they could try to be normal around each other - or more like talk about normal stuff, but Tamyra was still trying to be careful with Wren. And once the drought was over, it was much easier to keep things civil and hold herself back from just exploding at the smallest things.
(To be fair, she still did that, but only exploded on other people. Where Wren wasn’t anywhere near.)
So there was a certain kind of carefulness in Tamyra when she noticed Wren looking through the windows of a hut that was in a pretty bad shape. “Looking for an evil witch in there?” she called out, her voice teasing as she walked up closer.

“Iyaz is gone,” was what Madi said first, before hello, before anything else, to make sure this went in directions she wanted this to. She just wanted to make sure Emre was going to be okay, and wanted to make sure Tomas was aware of everything that was going on. He could probably help Emre better than she ever could, anyway. So she’d let him know and then leave and that would be that.
She might have felt a bit guilty because Emre asked her not to tell anyone, but Tomas needed to know about it.
“He-- he walked into the Heart Tree’s fire. He realized Peter in the groove wasn’t Peter and somehow got convinced that he needs to go in there to find him, which he did, while Emre partly watched partly tried to stop it. And he’s been-- well, you can imagine how he’s been doing ever since. And got it into his head that the best way to deal with all of this is if he tells everyone that Iyaz is sick. So that’s-- that’s why Iyaz is out. Just-- thought you’d need to know.”
“I’ve been in love with you from the beginning.” “Sophia, stop. If this is a prank-” “Why do you think I pushed you to turn on that depressing little shit of a friend, way back then? I was jealous of her.” “This is retarded. Don’t fucking call me again until you’re ready to grow up,” Emma growled. “Please,” Regent managed to pull off a pleading tone, but Emma was already hanging up. He heard the dial tone and swore, “Fuck.” He hopped down from the railing as he reached the end of the bridge. He commented, “Don’t think she bought it.”
I shouldn't be laughing at this. But I think even if I didn't hate Sophia this would still be funny, even if the horror of it would probably be more at the fore, with someone else.
I mean, the thing is, if Alec cared enough, as a vigilante/hero, he could probably put this ability of his to very good use for good - I mean, it's still body violation to do this to someone, but for like, getting evidence to take down criminals and organized groups, this could be pretty useful, depending on how it was used.
Would it be worth the moral hazard of taking control of someone like this though?
Alec's kinda just been... the funny jackass off to the side, before this arc, with a power that's useful when applied well, but that's it. But his real ability, taking total control like this...
It's pretty horrifying, and we're shown it, and yet...
It's kind of like Interlude 2, in a way. Vicky being so willing to break a gangster in half like she was is bad, that's fucked up, but it's a Nazi, so it's hard to care. Sophia is of course, far, far from a Nazi, but many readers are going to hate her more, regardless, because she's such a bitch and such an antagonist to the MC, etc.
So yeah, we're seeing how fucked up what Alec is doing, but for a lot of readers, Sophia sort of falls into the realm of 'acceptable target' which is... not great, really. Is this bad or isn't it? If it is, it should be bad whoever it's used on, right?
Right?
