Former hardcore bands playing music closer in style to deathrock and post-punk have been on a tear for the last decade.
I wrote this piece for Bandcamp about the current dark punk and deathrock revival. Of course, when I started Wardance in Dallas in Summer 2012 and Funeral Parade in Austin that same year, part of the goal was to play some of these current acts, and to tie them into the broader history of postpunk, deathrock, punk, and goth (instead of just focusing on "old school" and nostalgia music). These are some of the better groups in this ongoing movement and how they came to be.

"Labyrinth" by Internal Autonomy - From "Ferox" (2013)
Internal Autonomy were a UK anarcho band from the late-80s/early-90s. They sound as though they could have been on Bluurg, or Crass Records six or seven years prior. A very post-punk/spacy sound, with haunting female vocals (at least on their earlier material).
This 7" came out in 1991 on a German label. I believe this is the last release with their vocalist, as the next release (the excellent Only You Have The Power double-7" on Profane Existence) has a completely different vocalist.
This came with a poster that I really should get around to putting up...

Thanks to CVLT Nation for opening my eyes for this, it's great!
