This might sound silly, but why did the Romans tell Greek mythology, and while the events remain more or less the same, they completely change the Gods's names? Especially since the Greek and Roman Gods are not the same figures, unless I'm wrong
identifying foreign deities with one's own gods was a common practice in the ancient world. Sometimes the gods identified with each other had much in common but even the vaguest of similarities were enough for this to occur.
