Happy 2nd Birthday, Interstellar Transmissions!
It's hard to believe that @ricca-raccoon published the first chapter of what would become Interstellar Transmissions two years ago. I came on as co-writer soon after, and have been forever changed by the experience of getting to create something that touched so many people's lives. Interstellar Transmissions changed both of our lives for the better, and we can't thank you enough for that. Each and every comment, kudo, fanwork, gif party, and message we've received have meant the world to Ricca and I.
Last year, Ricca, @avenrue , and I were interviewed by The Atlantic about Forms and Interstellar Transmissions. Here’s that article. Last week, we talked to them again about fanfiction, Reylo, and the changing Star Wars universe. You can read the new article here.
In the past few weeks, we've seen a new wave of interest in Interstellar Transmissions thanks to the release of The Last Jedi. With this new interest have come questions about what we're working on now, if we're going to write something based on The Last Jedi, if we've got more in store for Kylo and Rey.
At the moment, we have no plans to write anything on the same scale as Interstellar Transmissions based on The Last Jedi. We have lots of ideas for lots of stories, and we are working on some of those stories. I am currently in the middle of graduate school, which takes up an obscene amount of time. I'm also working on a large-scale original fiction while planning a wedding. Ricca is a full-time business lady juggling writing, work, a partner with great hair, and two kitty cats.
That does not mean we will never return to our very favorite galaxy far, far away. We came out of The Last Jedi with dozens of questions, all demanding answers. I want to know more about Holdo's life, more about Rose and Finn's relationship, more about DJ's stutter, and, of course, more about the implications of Kylo and Rey's powerful connection. It just means that, right now, we are more eager to hear what you think, to read your stories, than we are to leap feet-first back into what was an amazing, intense, and overwhelming writing experience.
Remember, no one, and nothing, is ever really gone. We certainly aren't. We're here, ready and waiting, to see what comes next.
