"ARSON SUSPECT IS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY," Windsor Record. February 17, 1913. Page 1. ---- Sergt. Reid Arrests Man Wanted in Chicago-Taken Back to Windy City to Face Charge. ---- Frederick W. Buckminster, treasurer of the defunct Northwestern Can Co., was arrested Sunday by Sergt. William Reid, and taken to Chicago to face a charge of arson, the complaint having been made following the investigation of the alleged arson trust by the Cook county state's attorney's office, and the indictment charges blowing up and burning the can company's property near Chicago in 1911.
Buckminster had been living at the Herendeen hotel. He said he was a city detective in Chicago during the car strike some years ago and that he conducts a private agency there now. After some objection Buckminster agreed not to fight extradition and the prisoner was taken to Chicago at once. The officers have been trailing Buckminster over the country for some time.
Clue to the whereabouts of Buckminster was secured through his correspondence with a lady friend in Toledo. He is said to have been travelling under the names of Kendall, Stevens, Cochran and Burton.
