Thinking about the we-are-the-trollhunters thing again and I think with Gogun the Gentle being my TrollHunter mentor, I can see him being Tara Bryn’s mentor. With her having my previously prodigious climbing skills, I can see her climbing up to where his statue is (if it’s in the forge) and just sitting next to it whenever she’s having a bad time— especially when she makes mistakes that send her spiraling into the “I’m not cut out for this! Nothing I do matters, and when it does I fail! I don’t want to do anything if it won’t matter in the end!!!” (Which is something I do a lot)
I think like with her, he’d be the one to coax me out of that when I hit my spirals with something like, “Everything you do affects things. Everything-whether it’s your action or inaction— every choice made matters and will affect your future and others. But you must ask yourself: will your actions bring you greater regret than your inaction? Or will let yourself suffer under the weight of your guilt for not acting when you could’ve or should’ve?”
Then we’d both probably repeat a phrase my seminary teacher taught me. “For all sad words of tongue and pen, The saddest are these, 'It might have been'.” Shortened to “The saddest words of tongue or pen are these four words, it might have been.”
Sorry if this is a bit jumbled. I’m not used to self inserts so I try to keep some amount of distance between me and them. ><;;
