The trees are introverts.

They aren't whispering to each other, they are shushing. 

Please be quiet, please be gentle, please let me alone a while, they plead into the too rough and tumble summer days. The little girls want to climb them and warm rain wants to cuddle and insistent rays of sun want to play, but the trees are tired. The trees need to nap and rest. They have the most terrible headache from all the barbeques and excited shouting and taking the weight of the hammocks. 

Hush, they implore, we will provide you with the expanding of your lungs, and the refuge from the heat waves, but you must hush. 

They do enjoy the non-company provided by others of their kind, nearby, but keeping to themselves. For much the same reason they enjoy the quiet nearby deer and they tolerate the birds because the babies are just that precious.

But they wanted me to tell you, please, when you speak to the trees, speak softly, they can hear the faintest whisper and the faintest whimper, they will offer you their comfort as best they can

i’m an extrovert and i can testify that lately it’s been hard. just as introverts are perplexed by our behaviour, we too are thrown into a trance of thoughts. that’s how majority of us want to be, mystifying (or that’s what we think about you guys). but the brain of a blatherskite can’t go skidding two seconds into a trash can.
