      “aw, for-- fuck me.” with the two pizza boxes piled in her arms, jane stared at the door she’d stupidly let swing shut behind her, and sighed out through her nose. all she’d been looking forward to tonight was sitting on her couch, watching a movie and overeating, but now there was no chance of it. with no other options, she turned to knock at the apartment opposite hers with her foot and waited, hoping that her neighbour would be able to take pity on her. “so, uh-- i forgot to bring my keys down with me,” jane began, once he’d opened the door. she nodded to the locked apartment behind her, then gave her neighbour a shy smile. “mind if i wait it out in here? just ‘til i can get my friend here with the spare. i’ll even give you, like, half of this.”
