Invincible Season 4 Spoilers, Lets Talk About: “I Killed Conquest! I’ll Kill You Too!”
This isn't going to be too long I feel but I just wanted to get this out before the finale dropped this Wendsday. I think there's some more meaning into peoples reaction to Mark Killing conquest than initially shown. ESPECIALLY Thraggs. Yes, people are shocked sure, Conquest is one of the oldest remaining Viltrumites after all. Not only that, he was one of the strongest to boot.
So hearing Mark a very young Viltrumite by their standards actually fight him twice but kill him the second time? It draws not only respect from them all...but also something deeper. It provides proof and it's Thraggs reaction that formed that thought in my mind.
It’s Thraggs reaction here that truly caught my attention. It's one that I feel ties back to his talk with Nolan.
"We've always talked. Some simply chose not to listen." At first glance/hearing this seems like a regal ruler who has tried for decades to get people to listen to him. A ruler who, like the one before him, has tried to bring peace where there has been order and chaos even if its through violence.
But that's the thing, Viltrumites only talk through violence.
That is their whole language. Their whole way of living since Argall took the throne thousands upon thousands of years ago and Thragg has spent almost the same amount of time maintaining that status quote. It's why he doesn't consider Oliver a Viltrumite, why he's a failure in Thraggs eyes because he failed to live up to expectations. Failed to survive his 'lightest' of hits.
But Marks is different. Mark is truly Nolans son and his killing of Conquest proves that his initiative to mix with other species to regain their strength may be working. It's why he sounds like this in the scene.
He WANTS to be right. He wants to see what potential Mark holds that should follow that statement. Wants to see if a half breed truly can carve out a new path for the Viltrum Empire...and why he's slightly disappointed when Mark 'near broke his hand on his hairline.
I feel like the Viltrumites getting used to earth and assimilating with humanity is probably gonna only get one episode (if that) next season but I'll be honest I think that concept could carry its own show. Like seeing Ultra powerful space extreme Darwinists who've never had to take a no in their life suddenly having to blend in with humans put up with all our bullshit and get absolutely folded by the concept of genuine love and affection? I'd watch 10 seasons of just that.
Imagining the Viltrumites showing up to Earth and trying to obtain their disguises like-
Lucan barging into a tailors and walking up to the first employee he sees like- “Hello human- ahem fellow citizen. I am here to obtain your finest garments for my mission- ahem work here on this planet- ahem state… So, what could you provide me with?”
Meanwhile Kregg beat up a dude for his fit. Took his jacket, took his bike, took his Marlboros, took everything from this random guy and left him naked in an alleyway.
Anissa probably stole her disguise as well, not right off a person like Kregg, but probably out of someone’s home. I can imagine her stopping in front of the mirror to somewhat admire herself before having to dart out the window once she hears someone come in downstairs.
