Wisdom had spent the best part of a week trying to find this second part of the letter from Masen's parents. They sighed as they finally got back to where they started, the island where the first part of the letter was found.
"This letter must be here, somewhere…" Wisdom muttered. They regretted not asking the mortals for help now. At least that would be more pairs of eyes to search. "I don't think I can do anything more…" Masen was getting restless and was almost ready to take control again, and it was almost certain that she wouldn't be allowing them to take control anytime soon. They sat down at the base of a tree looking out to a sandy desert. Wisdom felt as if they had failed Masen greatly. They got the mortals to give her the potion then they can't find anything to help her with her flux. They felt like a failure.
"You're not a failure Wisdom…" Masen's voice echoed in Wisdom's mind. They smiled.
"Ah but I have, I drugged you to help you, yet my efforts have yielded no results." They sighed. "I am not worthy of being with you my dear, I should leave you be and never return…" Wisdom closed their eyes.
"No! Wisdom please stay! I've had too many people leave me that I care about…" Masen's voice full of pain. Wisdom knew whom she spoke of and sighed.
"Of course not my dear. As much as I should leave you be, I will not. I know what pain you have been through, and I do not want you to suffer through that again." Wisdom could hear Masen sigh in relief.
"Good. Now I shall be quiet so you can think. I believe you will find it, I really do…" Masen's voice faded and Wisdom sighed before opening their eyes. They looked over to the sandy plains over the ocean, when they saw something they did not remember seeing before. A cave entrance in the sand, which would be hard to see from any other angle. Wisdom flew over there and went into the cave. They dug through some sand that had fallen in and found a small piece of paper. It had obviously aged over the years but the sand kept it well preserved.
"Please, please let this be what I think it is…" Wisdom muttered to themselves. They opened the note and scanned over it. They grinned widely. "Finally!" They stood there for a couple of minutes, grinning like an moron before frowning and smack their head. "God am I an idiot!" They started to climb out of the cave, with the note tucked into their, well Masen's, jacket. "I looked for over a week, in all the places I remember Masen being at and all along it was right next to where we started." They muttered. Finally they got out of the cave and teleported to Masen's tower.
"Wisdom? Are you okay? I hope that you hitting your head doesn't leave a bruise on my forehead!" Masen said, with humor in her voice. Wisdom chuckled.
"No, no my dear. Everything is perfect." Wisdom could see Masen in their mind raise an eyebrow. "I found it Masen, I found the letter!" Wisdom closed their eyes and opened them to be in the darkness they lived when Masen was in control. Masen looked up and Wisdom smiled. Masen then shot up and ran towards Wisdom before stopping right before them and looked up at them.
"Y-you did?!" She said, excitement in her voice. Wisdom laughed loudly.
"Yes. You will have to translate the recipe to make the potion bu- Ooof!" Wisdom was cut off by Masen giving them a hug and felt tears from her eyes.
"Th-thank you…" She whispered. Wisdom was still for a moment before wrapping their arms around her.
"Anything for you my dear." They whispered. They stood there for a moment before Wisdom pushed Masen away, wiping away her tears. "Now, I will let you back in control. See about getting translation of that recipe. I have no doubt the mortal's will help in any way possible if you ask them my dear." Masen nodded.
"Of course." Masen stepped back and smiled before closing her eyes. "Thank you."
"Anytime my dear, anytime…" Was the last thing Masen heard from Wisdom before she opened her eyes and found herself back in her tower. She looked in her hands and found the letter. With shaking hands she opened it and read it to herself. Tears came to her eyes as she read through it. When she came to the end she held the letter close to her and sat down at her desk. She cried for what seemed like hours before she finally regained control and shook her head.
"Stop this now Masen, you haven't cried this much since she left…" She muttered, her heart aching slightly as she remembered her lover. "You need to focus and write out a translation." And with that, Masen got out a new sheet of paper and pen and started to translate the recipe.
The sun had started to rise once again by the time Masen had completed the translation. It had been a while since she had to read Thaumic symbols of the void, so it had taken longer than she hoped. Masen packed the pages together into a book and made some copies so that the mortals could read it and hopefully help her to find the ingredients.
"I hope they can help…" Masen muttered to herself. She went over to her teleporters and teleported to spawn. She looked around at the changes that had taken place. She smiled and climbed up the tree and sat on the tentacle that had grown up it. "I'll wait here until they get back I think." She said to herself. "After all, I have the patience of a saint…" Masen then looked out into the distance, eyes unfocused, her mind a million miles away.
I was just mining for materials today when the letter came to my mind once again. I sighed and headed back to my tower. I then took the letter and went to find the others. Maddie, Celestine, Megan, Serena and some others. I let them see the letter. I thought to myself that if I want them to help, they need to know what I was worried about.
They suggested that we head to the island the letter was found on so I took Megan, Maddie and Serena there. It was an arduous journey but we eventually we got there in the end. However as soon as we arrived I felt quite dizzy and must have passed out…
When I woke up, the three of them were standing around me. They seemed very concerned and were talking about the purple tinge on my face and Flux flu… I was so confused yet it seemed somewhat familiar. But we decided to head back to the main area when they suddenly decided that we should have a sleepover at the water base. I was invited along (more like pushed) along with the others.
At the "sleepover" there was some drama between Celestine and Aleks, but I won't write it down it was not any of my business in particular. But we played some games and spent sometime in the hot tub, so overall I enjoyed myself quite a bit.
Well, we finally did the ritual today. I would say it went well but many mobs came during the ritual and tried to take our powers. Fortunately for us, the other mortals were there to keep us safe. It took a while but the ritual finally ended and we were mortals once again.
Aleks had grown into a 28 year old man, and looked quite different from the boy I had gotten to know. The others were slightly dazed but were generally alright. Well Proj had some difficulties due to her essence but apart from that…
When we exited the ritual, one of the mor- I mean other people gave me a book they had found… It was part of a letter my… my parents left me… It sort of explained what had happened and why I found myself here but… There was something else to it but half the page had been ripped away, so I guess I will never know…
I was so shocked that I dropped the letter and ran into my tower. I just sat there for a while, gazing at nothing in particular until a couple of people showed up, Booty and Celestine, and gave me some food and a god apple named after me. I thanked them graciously and then went about making plans on what to do next.
Fortunately I had found my old gear at my old house and was able to use that to get a head start in my first mining trip in many years. I found quite a bit down there, I forgot how relaxing mining could be. After a while, I thought about the letter I had been given earlier and wanted to kick myself for dropping it. Luckily the person who found it, Botu, had picked it up and gave it back to me. I put the letter in a chest in my tower, hoping that I can study it further at a later point.
So overall, it has been an interesting day for myself and the other now-ex-wizards with the whole "becoming mortal again" thing. I hope that tomorrow will be okay, in fact maybe I should venture out to see if I could find the second part of this letter. It seemed to have cut off right before some kind of warning…
- Wizard Masen
P.S. I should look into doing something with my hair, it seems to have some grey tinge to it in places. Also, some of my face has become tinged in purple… I wonder how…
