a lot of people are saying "well, no amount of censorship is gonna make me leave Tumblr"-ing in response to this new ban and I'd like to remind you that it's not Tumblr that's the problem it's apple- i.e. if anything you should stop buying apple products

So here’s a solution to the whole thing with iOS Tumblr users that I haven’t seen anybody talk about, but that I unintentionally implemented before I even knew what the problem was, and it’s this: turn off auto-update. I realize that if you’ve already downloaded the latest version, intentionally or automatically, that it’s too late for this, but I don’t have auto-update on for any of my apps, and I’m sitting here on my iPhone looking at as many blocked tags as I please.  I remember a couple months ago people were all upset that mobile had apparently removed quick re-blog or the ability to instantly scroll to the top of the page. This also never affected me, because I never updated the app to the version that had that change. Turn auto-update off, at least for Tumblr, and many many problems will suddenly magically disappear.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL

The current banned tags list does have sensitive subject matter that can be upsetting to individuals.

And because those tags are banned and idk how deep the banned goes, it’s possible that whoever is creating/talking about that sensitive content may not use tags anymore.

Which means you can end up seeing it.

So please be careful.

It’s asinine and I’m hoping Tumblr is able to figure out some loophole around IOS’s stupidity.
