It was quite blustery down in the #portofios today. After buying my ticket, I had a coffee at Echo Beach & lunch at Meze-meze. Well enjoyable! It's amazing how many friends I bump into on my travels around the #island - thanks for the offer from a dear friend to water my garden while I'm away, I needn't stress about putting in a watering system before I go. I got a lift up to the village from another dear friend. The buses are on winter schedule & run extremely infrequently at the moment. Back home now, herbs planted, so relaxing over a turmeric tea. Happy Thursday! I'm going down to the port to get my ferry ticket to Athens for next week. It's been a good trip here this time. I've loved being on the #island at this time of year: the #simplicity of life, the friendliness, the beauty. When you strip away the "party island" element - the raw beauty shines through. But do you know what, the island still lives to a "party vibe" somehow ...... it's in the air. Electrician finished for now, now's the time for some sustenance. Sometimes only a #souvlaki will hit the spot. Am sitting in #yummybympolikos eavesdropping on a table of locals. The repairs needed for the desalination plant & the first gay bar opening on the island seem to be the hot topics of conversation. The #island smells so fresh after the rain. Sitting in #wheelwell cafe waiting for a friend & this is my view - 'orrrible, innit?! The electrician said he would come tonight & try & fix the electrics, so it will be wonderful to have a little walk to my friend's house. Down in the #portofios looking up at the village. Still quite windy today. Am doing some work in the garden before meeting up with a friend this afternoon. It's great being able to to combine work & socialising. I'm finding my house & my garden more & more of a refuge. No, I'm not cutting myself off from people, but it's a good feeling to have somewhere to go to escape from them when I need to be alone. Yay! My incredibly kind & talented friend managed to assemble my wardrobe - wow! Now I need to find space for my art materials. Eventually I'd like to move the wood burning stove to the garden & make it into a table, but I'll need a good few strong guys to move that - it's cast iron & extremely heavy ..... When that's out, the wardrobe can go against the wall & I can make it more decorative. Things are definitely beginning to take shape. Tomorrow another friend will come up to help set up the automatic watering system - it's all go. I'm completely gobsmacked by what I've had done so far. The heater makes such a difference to the house - feels really cosy now, I don't want to go out. But I'll go out & have a meal tonight & eat the leftovers tomorrow. My first view of #mylopotas #beach #mylopotasbeach for this year. I didn't walk all the way down to the beach, only as far as Far Out Hotel. On the way down, I stopped & chatted to numerous friends & acquaintances. I even bumped into the builder who built our house in Mylopotas - he keeps an eye on the house for me & will organise the damp-proofing of my village house in autumn. Everybody's being so helpful and friendly.
