You know the season is over when the #Kafeneion in the bottom square closes. All packed up, cleaned & the white lines and symbols painted for the winter. There's a melancholy feel in the air ..... at the same time I'm so grateful it's still warm enough to swim - such a bonus to living here. Back home now & making apple roses for tomorrow's bake event. Had a delicious meal in #lordbyronios with Karen, Robbie & Danny. We sat at "Uli's table" with the picture I'd made of him looking down on us. The 2 of us had sat in this spot so many times before & Uli would hang his bowler hat up on the wall (& often forget it there & have to go back for it). Byron's was filled with many known faces. It was good to see everybody relaxing & enjoying themselves. I know it isn't Thursday but I've spent the past few hours deleting pics from my phone, so here's a #tbt Although I've got my photos stored online, I find it very difficult to delete & impossible to delete any pic of Uli. Here he is sitting on our land in front of the house, surveying #mylopotas valley. He loved that place so much. While I was deleting, naturally I was reliving old memories too. I came across a pic I'd taken a few days before he died & I was reminded how very sick he was & how happy I am that he's no longer suffering. Sometimes focusing on the good times we had, makes me even sadder that we're not continuing living them. By reminding myself how ill my love was, I realise I'd only want him to still around if he was well & healthy. Have got to the pics I took after he passed - it'll be far easier to delete these - 2k done, another 10k to go ..... Meanwhile Elias has laid the tar paper on the roof & is waiting for it to dry so he can give it a coat of special paint and Vangelis has taken measurements to make a new metal panel for the garden door. It rained last night and the air smells wonderful & the streets have been washed clean. The island feels as if it's been leached of colour. Once I get ready, I should go out & walk around the village to breathe in the fresh air. Maybe this is a good day to walk up to Uli's house, I'll see how I feel. If there's heavy rain to come it wouldn't be a good idea. It's interesting to see how much weather conditions influence our daily life on the island. Unlike when I'm in a city, here I feel far closer to nature & under its control.
