IOT: Origins
My IOT idea provides a more comprehensive and immersive experience by combining beacon technology with a Google Maps-style application. As a visitor approaches a new animal exhibit, their smart phone identifies the native habitat(s) of the animals in the exhibit, and allows the visitor to learn more about that region. Traditional zoo displays include stagnant posters, with a description and an image in front of the animal exhibit. Through this smart phone interaction, however, visitors can learn even more about each native habitat and easily explore via Google Earth, or other location mapping tools, without having to engage in distracting searches. -Becky
