ZOO VIEW In a zoo sometimes I feel like I wish I could stand in front of the lions cage all day because I don’t want to miss anything spectacular, like a feeding, or them roaring, etc. So at certain exhibits there can be a live streaming view of some of the more interesting things happening at other exhibits. This can also be a mobile app, so you can view your favorite exhibit while moving about the park.

IOT: Origins

My IOT idea provides a more comprehensive and immersive experience by combining beacon technology with a Google Maps-style application. As a visitor approaches a new animal exhibit, their smart phone identifies the native habitat(s) of the animals in the exhibit, and allows the visitor to learn more about that region. Traditional zoo displays include stagnant posters, with a description and an image in front of the animal exhibit. Through this smart phone interaction, however, visitors can learn even more about each native habitat and easily explore via Google Earth, or other location mapping tools, without having to engage in distracting searches.  -Becky

I don’t really have a talent. I can’t sing. I’m not double-jointed. I can’t even make my tongue look like a hot dog bun. I can dance, kind of… but I don’t really want to record myself dancing. I can draw/paint, kind of… but I don’t have materials. There’s a number of things I’m kind of ok at. My talent: Mom blogging

Global warming is not something many of us think about regularly, but it is one of the most pressing issues of our time. We have harmed our planet in so many ways; abusing its resources and destroying the habitats of countless species.

This is an ad I created in Greenpeace’s name to remind people of this issue. A Polar Bear-shaped ice sheet is breaking into pieces. The tagline “Don’t break the ice,” is a play on words inspired by the famous childhood game. How do we expect to take care of societal problems if we cannot take care of our own planet? Although we can never undo the damage we’ve already done, we can all do our part to reduce our carbon footprint.
