goodnotes5 (not pictured as it is in my doc on my ipad)
zoom (duh lol)
remind (ehhh used this one more in high school tbh)
google drive
google docs
google sheets
quizlet (even tho i haven’t made any sets this year oops)
pages (apple’s version of word)
pulse (my school’s app (kinda like canvas))
adobe scan (since we’re online, my teachers want us to scan in our work, especially for calc so this one is v important)
google translate
adobe acrobat (allows me to combine pdf pages and do other stuff to mark up and edit pdfs)
bookshelf (how i access my textbooks)
let me know if you want a more in depth post about these apps or if you want me to talk about the ones i use the most often!
xo- gg
Just a quick comparison between Notability (left) and GoodNotes 5 (right)
The interfaces are also pretty different: Notability is more like a list of all the files and notes you made or added, and you can organize them in lists by arguments; GoodNotes has folders and a more “bookshelf” like appearance, with your files being stored as “notebooks” with a personalised cover
Both app can import pdf files and export your notes as pdf
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
This is just a very quick comparison, there are way more things to cover but these ones seemed like the basics
If anyone wants to know more or wants to see a comparison between other features I missed feel free to ask!
My favorite apps for iPad & iPhone 💕
So, I use quite a lot of apps on my tablet and phone, and I myself always enjoy these app compilations, they help me find a lot of interesting and useful ones!
Haven’t made any posts for a long time, so hopefully you’ll enjoy this one 🌸
1. Apps for Studying ✏️📔
- Goodnotes: is amazing for taking notes, digital planning, studying, and all things bujo💞 Honestly, I just downloaded it, and I enjoy it a lot. I buy my planners and stickers for it from Etsy, but you can decorate your own planner or bujo for free and add new notepads. The app itself is not free, but it is so worth it! It’s about 8 euros I think, but there’s also a few free alternatives.
- Notes writer: also for taking notes, it is for free, and it is quite good. You can write there, highlight notes, edit pdf files and add images - all for free! So, check it out if you’re interested and don’t like to pay 💛
- Microsoft OneNote: honestly, the best free alternative in my opinion. I usually use it on my laptop 💻, but you can obviously use it on your tablet/phone as well. I usually just type my notes out in it, highlight what I want, and add a few pictures if needed. A bit tricky to get used to at first, but convenient nonetheless.
- Dropbox: good for keeping your files there, syncs up on all of your devices, and is really good for file sharing. 📋 Unfortunately, it only allows you to to link three devices for free to your Dropbox, but it is quite enough still. This app helped me so many times, I lost count, when I had to quickly transfer a file from one device to another.
- Google Documents: is perfect for working on a project with a group of people online, allows you to create, highlight, correct and share your documents in it. Was very useful to me when me and my team were editing the document together live.
2. Apps for inspiration. 🦄
- Pinterest: love this app to death and use it to create boards with different themes, find tips and ideas, and to download various content (for example, custom content for the Sims 4 hehehe). I spend a lot of time there lol
- WeHeartIt: another great app with pictures, collections and articles. I use it less as of recently, but still like it a lot.
3. Apps for pictures. 🌅
- Lightroom: my go-to for editing pictures, color correcting, creating presets, and just making beautiful pictures. If you’re a bit lazy (like me 💁🏻), you can buy presets or download them for free from people who share them.
- VSCO: also a nice app for adding filters and whatnot to your pics, there’s quite a few free filters to use, and I like to get preset inspo on Pinterest. There’s a big variety of tips on how to create a certain preset for free. I am currently using a paid subscription, and it has a giant library of filters, including vintage ones, so to me that’s a worthy purchase! But both options are great, of course.
- MakeupPlus: honestly, I adore this app. It has lots of make up options, tools for editing your face in a picture, and it’s all for free! I recommend it a lot.
- AirBrush: also an app for beauty editing with cute filters, powerful editing tools, and cool features. I’m in love with this app 😍, but mostly the features there come with a premium subscription, and I gotta say - it is worth investing in.
💞Aand that’s it! If you would like more posts like this, let me know in the comments and feel free to add your favorites to the list!
Hope you enjoyed it and it was helpful for you, loves 💕
Apps on my iPad
I did one of these when I had my Samsung tablet so I thought I would share what apps I use on my iPad 2018
Noteshelf 2 -- This is the main app I use to take all of my notes in. I used to use goodnotes 5 but the writing experience was not the best in my own opinion, so I tried out noteshelf. I love using this app to take my notes in. I also keep my bullet journal in this app.
Procreate -- I use this to create my bujo spreads and do any handlettering that I need done.
AnyFont -- With the inclusion of being able to import my own fonts to Noteshelf, I broke down and bought AnyFont so that I can easily import any custom fonts that I want.
Snapseed -- I use this to edit all of the pictures that I post. It’s free and easy to use.
Insta Square -- I use this to make my digital note pages square for easier posting.
Quizlet -- I use quizlet when I have a subject that requires memorization. I also use it for learning Dutch vocabulary.
iBooks -- I usually import pdfs and other eBooks into my iBooks for convenience.
Amazon Kindle -- Sometimes I rent books through Amazon and I use this to access them.
If anyone has any questions feel free to send me an ask :)
I track #hollstudies
Hey guys, I got my iPad + apple pencil yesterday and have been playing around with it- I’ve already got goodnotes and am considering getting notability for recording lectures. Does anyone have any suggestions for other useful studying apps? Specifically for science?

Be still my iOS UI heart. The new MindNode 5 is gorgeous. Watch how the bottom toolbar changes as I tap between nodes and options.
It’s a mindmapping and brainstorming app. And it’s really good. And the new version is super good.
