Once you have enough spare time to do so, would it be possible for you to streamline the formatting you use for etymology explanations, please? It'd be time consuming so not urgent or anything, but I feel like the cohesion would help, especially for mobile users. TIA
Thanks for this ask! I was never sure how much interest there was in name etymology outside of naming posts, and years ago I kind of half-heartedly included name explainations in some IPP posts. If anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, some of my IPP posts (like Pancham's line, for example) have a link after the naming line, like this:
If you click on the ⓘ, it'll open a new tab with an image that includes the name's origins and pronunciation:
I did it this way in an effort to keep long IPP posts from getting even longer by not including the naming information in the text itself. I mostly operate IPP stuff on desktop, but I can see how that must be inconvenient and clunky for mobile users (and honestly, still not great for desktop users).
But if there's interest, I'm happy to revisit this. In a more recent instance of including name etymology, for Janmo-o's line, I included it as smaller text underneath, like this:
I feel like that works pretty well? I'd like to keep the name etymology as unobtrusive as possible so it doesn't make the posts much longer.
I would love to get yours and others' opinions on the best way to do this. Does the later solution work well in your opinion? Or do you have a different suggestion? Thanks!
