I mean, there's nothing really stopping Morri from realizing she's a girl now, right?
I just really don't know how Morri would possibly not know from the beginning. The hound culture knows gender is a spectrum, he grew up in a culture where intersex and nonbinary genders are commonplace (I'm pretty sure he has at least one trans sibling) and where there's no stigma against being a "whispering one", as they call it. Other than the leaders' rules (a pack should have a head person for each gender, or at least male and female, so everyone has someone to turn to in times of need. The symbolic parents of the pack) but even that's just guidelines instead of actual rules. His bestest friend forever is non binary and intersex!
I have no idea how to write a sudden self discovery like that without giving Morri his own character arc focusing on it. He's supposed to be a supporting character, the plot is already pulling in so many directions I don't know if I could pull off yet another one.
Stupid mutt being all gentleman. >:(
(the speech bubble says "Ladies first")
Feel free to headcanon them either way, though!
Actually, now that I think about it, there's nothing stopping him from being nonbinary in canon. I mean, this is canon:
(analyzing dog culture, from the last sketchbook, January 2018)
I'm not well versed in gender vocabulary, so I don't know how Morri would identify in modern terms. I'll leave that for your headcanons for now.
I really wasn't a good writer back when I started. I really went and defaulted to the whole "default gender" bullshit back in the day. :(
